    We are seeking a resourceful Senior Human Resources Generalist for our team in San Francisco! The Senior Human Resources Generalist will support the Payroll and Human Resources Manager and Human Resources Director with all administrative duties and corporate initiatives. This will be a variety of HR activities and programs involving benefits, staffing, training, payroll and workplace safety. This individual will have frequent interaction with the owners and employees and will report to the Human Resources Director in our South San Francisco office.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Participate in processing the organization's payroll and collect payroll data to maintain accurate payroll records.

    • Process employee status changes, analyze payroll, create on-going weekly, month-end, quarterly, and year-end organization reports.

    • Audit payroll information for accuracy.

    • Reconcile payroll deposits, tax withholdings, wage garnishments, 401(k), and voluntary deductions.

    • Data entry or audit new hire and employee change requests into the HRIS and ensure accurate record-keeping.

    • Participate in problem-solving and special projects within the department.

    • Administer leave of absence programs, process applicable paperwork and disability claims, and respond to state EDD and/or the union.

    • Conduct safety observation walks and inspections to analyze safety risks.

    • Suggest recommendations for improving safety in the workplace.

    • Investigate accidents that occur onsite and identify possible causes of the accident.

    • Responsible to communicate and report all work-related accidents and injuries to the insurance agency or other required agencies (OSHA) for processing.

    • Assist employees in handling and processing worker’s compensation claims.

    • Act as a liaison between employees and management to answer questions or concerns regarding company policies, practices, and regulations.

    • Conduct workplace investigations; coordinate the resolution of specific policy-related and procedural problems and inquiries.

    • Participate in various committees focused on projects and initiatives to help develop company safety and policies.

    • Back up for on-boarding and off-boarding employees.

    • Keeps abreast of changes in HR law to continue to maintain compliance.

    • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    • Must be able to maintain the confidentiality, sensitivity, and security of information

    • Impeccable attention to detail and accuracy, with a strategic, resourceful way of solving problems

    • Exceptional written, verbal communication skills and organizational skills.

    • Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel

    • Is pragmatic and exercises good judgement

    • Succeeds working independently and collaboratively

    • Excellent listening skills

    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as legal documents, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

    • Ability to write routine correspondence, memos and instructions.

    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

    • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

    • Have excellent project and time management skills (especially under critical deadlines)

    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

    • Knowledge working with timekeeper system and Ceridian program a plus

    • Bilingual in Spanish a plus

    Education and/or Experience      

    • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university preferred.

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

    • SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred.
