Our publicly traded client nearby Lake Forest is seeking an Internal Audit Lead to join their established organization in this newly created role.  The Internal Audit Lead will be responsible for executing various audits – financial, compliance, and operational – and presenting audit findings and recommendations to management.  The Internal Audit Lead will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

• Execute audits and prepare thorough documentation of audit testing, observations, and remediation through the use of internal audit methodology
• Conduct compliance-related audit procedures (including Sarbanes-Oxley) and review audit evidence utilizing professional skepticism
• Collaborate with organizational and department leaders and liaise as a strategic partner with corporate leadership to improve audit methodologies
• Research and monitor existing and new standards related to corporate governance and risk management
• Perform ad-hoc assignments deemed necessary by management

The qualified Internal Audit Lead will possess the following:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a business related field
• 5+ years of audit experience either through public accounting or private industry or a combination of both; prior Big 4 audit experience preferred
• Prior SOX testing, fraud examination, and/or forensic accounting is a plus
• Knowledge of GAAP, SOX 404, and internal audit standards
• Ability to exercise professional skepticism during audit execution and to investigate abnormalities or extraordinary items
• Excellent communication (both oral and written) skills and the ability to work collaboratively at all levels and within a fast-paced environment.
