    JOB SUMMARY

    8AM-5PM

    The Automation Engineer utilizes their experience designing UL listed panels and systems to develop PLCs, drives, HMIs, and motion control systems for industrial automation. They develop and manage projects based on accepted industry engineering standards. Responsible for in shop and on-site construction operation and troubleshooting leading manufacturers such as (but not limited to) Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, and Omron.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Produce electrical schematic drawings of control panel layouts using AutoCAD Electrical
    • Develop and maintain a progress schedule for each project
    • Create and maintain an engineering file for each project
    • Ensure design changes are documented and communicated through the documentation revision processes
    • Create technical specifications and technical design documents for equipment
    • Inspect all panels for correct wiring and set-up and perform in-house testing of engineered PLC code
    • Travel to customers’ facilities for assessment and engineering specifications, installation and start-up of panels and follow-up to ensure proper function and customer satisfaction
    • Act as technical resource to customers to address and resolve inquires and problems and ensure the successful completion of projects.
    • Completes job costing and documentation relating to each project
    • Maintain technical competency and remain current in technology and changes in the industry
    • Always work and comply with all state and federal safety codes.

    May be modified from time to time. Other duties, tasks and work may be assigned.

    KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED

    • Strong electronic/control background in advanced automation technologies
    • Good analytical skills
    • Good written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong troubleshooting skills
    • Able to maintain professional and friendly personality even in high stress situations

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelors Degree in Engineering (with exposure to both electrical and mechanical engineering)
    • A minimum of 5 years experience in control systems
    • Experience with AutoCAD / AutoCAD Electrical
    • Experience in designing UL listed panels and systems for large industrial environments

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    This is a combination office/shop floor job, but one that may requires hands on work. The physical demands of the office component entails the physical demands associated with operating a telephone and computer (viewing monitor, keyboard, and mouse). The hands on components entail occasional lifting or physical demands associated with production and related processes.

     

    EMPLOYEE EVALUATION SUMMARY

    • Introductory Review -- Will be written at approximately 80 days after employment and will be used to determine whether employment will continue.
    • Monthly reviews -- Monthly objectives are established and a monthly summary review is administered which measures the attainment of those objectives.
    • Annual Reviews -- Review same as monthly reviews for year along with Strengths, areas for improvement, and Plans/Goals for upcoming year.

     

    WORK SCHEDULE

    Hours for this position are from 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday with a one hour break for lunch. Time off will be granted with proper formal notice in accordance with company policy.

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    The environment is a mixed office and production environment. Dress attire is casual but professional.  All employees are required to wear Radwell access card and “Radwear” (apparel with company logo) at all times once the initial supply (at company expense) has been received. Closed-toe shoes must be worn.

     

    Must abide by all Radwell Safety Policies at all times.
