    Talley Eye Institute is a thriving Ophthalmology practice seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our Billing Department team.

    POSITION: Financial Counselor

    DEPARTMENT: Billing Department

    REPORTS TO: Billing Office Supervisor

    JOB SUMMARY: This individual will be responsible for daily communication in person and/or by phone with patients regarding financial information. This individual will provide support and communicate patient’s financial responsibilities as well as inform them of patient assistance programs. This individual will partner with other departments to ensure the patient’s financial obligations are presented. This individual will be a liaison with Optometry offices for financial and scheduling obligations.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    1. High school diploma or equivalent.

    2. One to two years minimum experience in a medical office

    ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    1. Excellent communication skills, written and oral

    2. Strong organization skills with attention to detail

    3. Excellent follow up skills

    4. Management of multiple tasks simultaneously

    5. Ability to work as a team player

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Precertification for:

    a. All outpatient surgeries

    b. In-office procedures

    c. Diagnostic testing for procedures outside of the office, such as MRT, CT, ultrasound, and chest X-rays

    1. Scheduling patients for the out of office diagnostic testing

    2. Scheduling patients for certain procedures

    3. Estimate out of pocket expenses for patients who have upcoming surgeries or in-office procedures

    4. Making one week and one-month post-op appointments with comanaging doctor’s offices and relaying the dates and times to the patient

    a. Be the primary point of contact for Optometry offices for co-management tasks

    1. Collections of monies for self-pay patients

    2. Signing patients up for payment assistance programs, such as Alphaeon and Care Credit

    3. Performs other duties as required

    Salary is commensurate with experience
