    DESIGNER II (ROADWAY) - LAS VEGAS, NV

    WESTWOOD PROFESSIONAL SERVICES, INC.

     

    WESTWOOD PROFESSIONAL SERVICES, INC. is seeking a Designer (Roadway) join our team in our Las Vegas, NV office.  Our ideal candidate will have 10 or more years of roadway design experience supporting public sector projects.  Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients. 

    Work as a key member of a roadway design team under the direction of various Project Managers.  Job duties may include, but are not limited to:

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    • Work with a team in the preparation of plans and cost estimates for projects of various size and complexity
    • Work with a team or independently in the preparation of various roadway design elements using local (state, county, or city) and/or AASHTO standards, including horizontal and vertical alignments; plan and profile; utility design and relocation; streetscape and roadway improvements; bicycle and pedestrian facilities; signing, striping, and signalization
    • Prepare detailed construction drawings using Autodesk Civil 3DP
    • Produce high quality work and perform quality assurance checks
    • Coordinate with other disciplines and support services
    • Identify applicable codes, standards, or other design requirements
    • Supervise the work of less experienced technical support personnel
    • Mentor and train technical support personnel

    Required Skills Required Experience

     

    • 10+ years experience in roadway design
    • Proficient in Autodesk Civil3D and Microsoft Office Applications
    • Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet project deadlines
    • Detail-oriented with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Able to follow directions and guidelines for the firm's policies, practices, and procedures

    JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

    • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel
    • Experience in one or more of the following a plus: PowerQuery, PowerBI, R, SQL, Tableau
    • Understanding of basic General Ledger Accounting
    • Organizational Skills, Computer Skills, Communication Skills

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift (including overhead) up to 15 lbs.

    WORK HOUR REQUIREMENT

    Full time, 40 hours per week, no overtime expected.
