  • Responsibilities

    Under the general direction of the RBI Director, the Research Specialist  performs research, reference and related information services to support the various practice areas. This position requires attention to detail, excellent research skills and strong written and verbal communication. The ability to work in a collaborative environment is expected and required.

    Responsibilities

    • Performs research to assist lawyers and other firm personnel in obtaining information. This includes extensive research utilizing published sources, telephone contacts, service bureaus, in-house precedents, and legal and non-legal databases. (25 requests per day)
    • Provides support on BI projects as needed including some basic report writing.
    • Initiates or curates news alerts as assigned.
    • Provides support on other projects or duties as assigned.
    • Accounts for billable time by submitting diaries on a regular basis.

     

    Required Skills

    EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION

    Bachelors from an accredited university or college. Eighteen months or more work experience in a professional services firm or M.L.S. from an ALA accredited institution as well as an interest in law librarianship strongly preferred.

    Required Skills

    • Excellent research, written, interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
    • Works well in a team/collaborative environment.
    • Able to digest and distill information from various sources and compile written summaries or biographical reports.
    • Familiar with common business terms and legal and governmental processes.
    • Flexibility to assume other job responsibilities within the department as necessary.
    • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple competing tasks and demands, provide high levels of customer service and maintain a professional demeanor under stress.
    • Strong computer skills – Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and other common business applications skills.

     

    ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS: On site Monday through Friday with a schedule beginning as early as 9:30 a.m. and ending as late as 7 p.m. Available when necessary before or after normal working hours to work at the firm in order to meet the needs of the firm. Travel Requirements: Ability to engage in off-site travel as required from time to time, in order to meet the demands of the job and the needs of the firm
