    Tampa Microwave is a leading manufacturer and supplier of Manpack & Fly Away satellite communication (SATCOM) terminals designed and built for the expeditionary user community to guarantee communications connectivity in the most austere environments. Tampa Microwave’s product primarily serve Federal and Department of Defense markets.

    We currently have an opening for a Manufacturing NPI Engineer located in our Clearwater, FL location.  The primary function of this position is to provide Operations with exceptional Engineering guidance and direction in all existing and evolving aspects of full Production. The Manufacturing NPI Engineer will work with an experienced, cross-disciplinary staff to maintain, improve and create innovative ways to assemble and test military-grade land-based satellite communication products in volume quantities. You will work closely with internal team members and outside partners to drive key aspects of production flow definition, design, execution, and test. The Manufacturing NPI Engineer will drive optimizations in the various build processes to ensure product quality and operational efficiency. This position reports to the Operations Manager.

    MANUFACTURING NPI ENGINEER RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Understand product development and manufacturing process requirements.
    • Assist with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Development Effectiveness in new product development to reduce risk at launch of new products.
    • Drive key initiatives to solve issues or reduce risks caused by new technologies or processes.
    • Develop and characterize assembly and test methods to minimize or eliminate risks and ensure the product meets the end-customer requirements.
    • From characterization and test results, refine specifications end-to-end (product to process) to ensure a shippable product.
    • Participate in efforts to ensure the manufacturing line is properly aligned with the needs of product design.
    • Assist in the acceptance and transfer activities for new products from prototype development to high volume manufacturing.
    • Drive root cause evaluation and issue resolution as problems arise in prototype and production.
    • Support the efforts of other key organizations such as the product development team, equipment/tooling design teams, product engineering and test teams.
    • Deliver clear documentation, reporting and communication of your work.
    • Partner with other organizations to drive product investigations/issue escalations for released products.
    • Manage qualification of changes for products released to production.
    • Experience with MIL-STD and RF-based products is a plus.

    TAMPA MICROWAVE SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

    This position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's operating policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include workforce/staffing plans, interviewing, training, and developing employees; planning, assigning, and directing work. Active mentoring and development of staff is critical element of the supervisory responsibilities. Maintain a high ethical standard of practice, including compliance with all company procedures.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Materials or related Engineering.
    • Desired: 5+ years’ experience in a product or process development or production environment.
    • Comprehensive understanding of complex manufacturing assembly processes and failure analysis.
    • Informative in production control processes, data analysis/interpretation and correlation analysis.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    REQUIRED:

    • U.S. Citizenship Required.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain US Secret Level Security Clearance UPON HIRE.

    • May be selected for work that requires ability to obtain and maintain US Secret Level Security Clearance.

    POTENTIAL FUTURE REQUIREMENTS:

    PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: (OPTIONAL)

    • 4+ years of experience in communication systems or RF electronics production.
    • Prior experience in volume assembly, processes, and procedures.
