Job Description:
Reports to Corporate Safety Director and on-site superintendent. Variable work schedule including occasional nights/weekends. The Field Safety Technician (FST) helps to minimize the risk of workplace incidents by providing safety and health support to TANCO personnel on the jobsite. The FST will drive implementation & enforcement of industry best practices, company policy, and local/state/federal regulations & standards to strengthen the company’s safety culture.
Essential Functions of the Job:
Be a daily presence in the workplace to identify potential employee exposures to injuries/illnesses and institute safe work practices/procedures.
Develop strong cross-functional relationships to ensure compliance with applicable best practices, regulations, and standards.
Serve as a point of contact to provide subject matter expertise to employees through education, training, process development, and/or coaching.
Conducts regular site safety inspections and documents the findings for the purpose of identifying hazards and behaviors in the workplace to include recommending solutions to minimize or eliminate risk.
Educate the workforce on and enforce all company EH&S programs, procedures, policies, and standards in a manner that ensures compliance to federal, state, local, customer, and corporate EH&S requirements and regulations
Develop and deliver competency training as needed for key subjects.
Conduct incident investigations to identify contributing factors, root cause, and development of effective corrective action plans to prevent future occurrences.
Provide general and technical consulting for site and facility safety related issues/concerns.
Assist as needed in preparation, review, and approval of project and/or job site-specific safe work execution plans. (SWEPS)
Proactively stay abreast of changing and/or evolving safety matters, trends and changes to laws and regulations that impact the business.
Development of site specific weekly safety topics, lessons learned.
Performs administrative duties through Raken for the EH&S and production department including but not limited to general data entry.
Physical Demands:
Stands for extended periods of time.
Traverse various types of terrain to reach job sites.
Sit for extended periods of time to include extended drive times.
Reach with hands and arms.
Occasionally required to assist workers in performance of project tasks to include use of power tools or heavy equipment.
Occasionally required to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
Position requires working in all conditions including outdoors and in a professional office atmosphere.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
Must possess valid driver’s license.
Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing.
Must participate in random drug testing program.
Proficient in MS Office.
Three years of proven safety experience.
Working knowledge of:
OSHA regulations (CFR 1926 and 1910)
ANSI standards
Industry best practices
DOT requirements/guidelines
Safety Certifications (preferred)
OSHA, BCSP, ASSP, etc.
Train the trainer certifications
First Aid/CPR, Climbing, Rescue, Confined Spaces, Rigging, etc.
