    Position Summary

    With guidance from the Benefit Accounting Specialist II ensure timely and accurate processing of COBRA Insurance benefits and perform calculations pertaining to Affordable Care Act (ACA) administration while ensuring compliance with the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) and Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA).

    Duties and Responsibilities

    ·        Follow the regulations for COBRA administration set by the IRS and the Department of Labor

    ·        Review COBRA notifications to confirm accuracy and delivery to former employees

    ·        Review  COBRA elections through the HRIS system and with the appropriate insurance carrier

    ·        Process COBRA terminations in a timely manner according to the termination regulations set by the Department of Labor

    ·        Communicate and process all COBRA open enrollment changes with the COBRA members and the appropriate insurance carriers

    ·        Process the COBRA receivables through the HRIS system and Accounting software

    ·        Reconcile the COBRA monthly invoices and statements and ensure timely delivery to all COBRA members

    ·        Answer COBRA inquiries from former employees

    ·        Process the initial measurement period and ongoing measurement period eligibility calculations in accordance with ACA regulations

    ·        Communicate the benefit eligible employees found in the monthly ACA calculations to the Benefit Administration Teams

    ·        Communicate the variances in full/part time hour coding with the Human Resources team

    ·        Answer ACA inquiries with the Benefit Administration teams

    ·        Reconcile employer paid benefits and confirm accurate setup in the HRIS system

    ·        Validate ACA reporting

    ·        Assist with discrepancies and provide information in non-routine situations

    ·        Assist with other benefit reconciliation related duties/projects as assigned

    Education and Experience Guidelines

    Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

    ·        High School diploma required, college degree preferred

    ·        Minimum two (2) year professional level experience in employee benefits and/or human resources required, ACA and COBRA experience preferred

    ·        Previous office experience is desired

    ·        Proficient in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint applications; intermediate Excel skills

    ·        Prior data entry experience preferred

    ·        Bilingual in Spanish desired, but not required
