    Position Overview: The Tap Room Manager is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day operations within the tap room, ensuring a smooth and efficient environment for patrons, staff, and special events. This role serves as a liaison between management, artists, vendors, and customers, ensuring all operations meet the brewery’s high standards. Additionally, the Tap Room Manager is responsible for the strategic planning and execution of weekly events, managing staff schedules, and maintaining inventory and supplies. The role requires a proactive leader who can think critically, improve operational efficiencies, and ensure customer satisfaction.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Staff Management and Scheduling:

    Develop and manage weekly bartender schedules.

    Ensure proper coverage for shifts during regular and special events.

    Act as the point of contact for bartender inquiries, training, and performance evaluations.

    Oversee taproom staff to ensure that sidework is completed thoroughly and high standards of cleanliness and customer comfort are being maintained.

    Ensure staff have appropriate “beer” knowledge of French Broad beers. Interact with production operations as needed to maintain understanding of all beers being produced.

    Event Planning and Execution:

    Plan and coordinate weekly events and special events, including music acts, sound engineers, food vendors, and other collaborations.

    Schedule and negotiate fees with artists, performers, and vendors in consultation with management.

    Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure all events are promoted on social media, online, and internal communication channels.

    Collaborate with Asheville Music Hall representatives for special events. Act as the liaison between our team and the AMH team for special AMH-promoted ticketed events.

    On-site presence for “load-in” and “load-out” of artists and vendors, ensuring smooth setup and breakdown of events.

    Plan and execute events on "dark nights" when no weekly scheduled events are in place, ensuring maximum tap room engagement.

    Vendor and Partner Relations:

    Serve as the primary liaison for artists, performers, and vendors involved in weekly and special events.

    Maintain clear communication with French Broad River Pizza and other food vendors regarding event schedules, product offerings, and inventory.

    Collaborate with other members of management to foster relationships with external partners and potential collaborators to bring fresh ideas and opportunities to the tap room.

    Inventory and Supplies Management:

    Oversee the routine ordering and stocking of bar supplies, including Devils Foot, guest taps (e.g., ciders), wine, soft drinks, and liquor (if applicable).

    Regularly assess and maintain inventory levels to ensure the tap room operates without interruption.

    Monitor and ensure the appropriate stock levels of barware, cleaning supplies, and other materials needed for tap room operations.

    Assist with merchandise design, inventory, and ordering in conjunction with management

    Customer Experience and Operations:

    Supervise the tap room’s daily operations to ensure a positive customer experience, including managing patron behavior and providing guidance when needed.

    Create and regularly update taproom menus and signage as needed.

    Evaluate the flow of traffic within the tap room and adjust layouts or operational strategies to improve customer comfort and operational efficiency.

    Oversee the cash registers in the tap room, working in collaboration with the GM to ensure all transactions are accurately recorded and reported.

    Ensure that the tap room remains clean, organized, and properly maintained in accordance with health and safety regulations.

    Marketing and Social Media:

    Maintain strong communication with the Marketing/PR department, regularly sharing updates on taproom happenings, special promotions, and community insights – as well as being available to incoming customer service inquiries.

    Collaborate with the Marketing/ PR department on taproom marketing initiatives, community involvement projects, events, and event promotions, ensuring events and specials are accurately promoted across online channels (social media, website) to drive engagement and attendance.

    Update specific taproom-related features and information on the website to ensure accuracy and consistency.

    Serve as the face of the taproom in photo and video projects + interviews that showcase the space, team, and events.

    Thought Leadership:

    Serve as the thought leader for the tap room, actively evaluating what works and what doesn’t.

    Provide feedback and suggestions for improving operational processes, customer service, and overall tap room experience.

    Participate in weekly management meetings to represent the tap room’s interests, provide updates, and contribute to ongoing improvement efforts.

    Administrative Duties:

    Handle any incoming calls related to sales inquiries, event coordination, and artist/vendor communication, disseminating information as needed.

    Maintain and update POS system to ensure accurate inventory availability.

    Maintain records for all tap room operations, including vendor contracts, inventory logs, and event schedules.

    Report regularly on the tap room’s daily and weekly operations to the GM and management team.

    Qualifications:

    Experience:

    Minimum of 3 years of experience in hospitality, event management, or bar/restaurant management, preferably in a brewery or taproom environment.

    Skills:

    Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

    Ability to negotiate with external vendors and partners

    Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, partners, and external vendors

    Experience with event planning, execution, and promotion.

    Proficiency with POS systems, inventory management, and financial reporting.

    Knowledge:

    Familiarity with the brewing industry, craft beers, and the beer-drinking culture.

    Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a hospitality setting.

    Strong understanding of customer service principles and hospitality best practices.

    Other Requirements:

    Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary, particularly during special events.

    Willingness to participate in photo and video marketing projects that showcase the taproom as well as outside media features such as interviews, etc.

    Basic understanding of social media

    Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds (e.g., kegs, supplies).

    Must be able to remain on-site for extended periods of time during events, ensuring the tap room is properly managed.
