    THIS IS A LONG-TERM, YEAR-ROUND POSITION AND REQUIRES PROVEN TEACHING OR CULINARY EXPERIENCE. If you are a student looking for seasonal work, we have hired to full capacity for the summer and are no longer accepting resumes or applications. Please check back in late August about part-time Culinary Assistant openings if you have weekend and limited weeknight availability during the school year.

    We are hiring an upbeat, go-get 'em Kids Cooking Teacher to lead cooking classes and host private parties for children, ages 2 to teen. In this position, your primary responsibility will be leading kids workshops, family classes, birthday parties, field trips, camps, after-school classes and more at our recreational cooking school. We are looking for a high-energy individual who enjoys inspiring those around them to have fun in the Kitchen. The right candidate should have prior culinary experience, a passion for the culinary arts, and the organizational skills required to plan and host cooking classes and events for people of all ages.

    Responsibilities:

    Instruct cooking classes, camps, and parties for children, teens and families

    Engage and teach guests about various cooking/baking skills related to the class menu

    Create a friendly, energetic, engaging and consistent experience for our guests

    Responsible for the success of the event from start to finish

    Interact with all guests to ensure customer satisfaction

    Manage event needs from start-to-finish (from room set-up and ingredient prep to seamless event execution and thorough clean-up)

    Serve as "shift manager" during larger events - managing and supervising a team of assistants but also able to work solo on smaller, more intimate events

    Create a controlled, safe, clean, and friendly environment

    Ensure the highest standards of sanitation and cleanliness

    Qualifications:

    Self-starter who can work in a fast-paced environment and move quickly

    Natural curiosity and passion for food & culinary entertainment

    Upbeat personality with an infectious smile

    Eagerness to get your hands dirty

    Great communication skills with children

    Confident with a range of cooking and baking techniques and speaking in front of a group with an amplified speaking voice

    At least one or more years of experience entertaining kids and/or adults

    Formal culinary education or relevant restaurant experience is a plus

    Formal teaching experience and training in education, childhood development, or related field is a plus

    Be able to stand for long periods of time and lift 45 pounds

    Be first aid/CPR certified (or willing to become certified at time of hire)

    Enjoy the atmosphere of a small business

    Schedule/Availability:

    We host events 7 days a week and are currently seeking part-time instructors able to work a minimum of 4 events (or 15 hours) per week in one or more of the following timeframes:

    Weekend events such as "mommy & me" family classes and kids birthday parties

    After-camp weekday events such as kids birthday parties and private classes

    Seasonal (Sept-May) weekday "after-school" (3-5pm) for off-site cooking classes in area partner locations like schools and park districts

    If closer to full-time hours is preferred, open availability including evenings and weekends is required.
