The Tasting Room Manager has overall responsibility for directing the daily operations of the Tasting Room, ensuring compliance with company standards in all areas of operation, wine sales, customer relations, facility management, inventory management, team management, recruiting and retaining team members, financial accountability, and ensuring that the highest quality products and services are delivered to each customer.
Essential Job Functions:
Manages all customer service aspects relating to tasting room operations
Ensures that employees effectively and appropriately carry out the company’s customer service policies and procedures
General upkeep of the tasting room
Ensures a safe and working customer experience environment by facilitating safe working behaviors of the team.
Ensures maintenance of equipment, facility, and grounds using a preventative maintenance program. (i.e., shoveling snow, watering plants, and weeding)
Monitors info@ and responds to email inquiries promptly
Coordinates the winery reservation details with guests
Leads all aspects of Team Member Management:
Recruit, interview, and hire select qualified candidates to build a talent pool to achieve future business goals
Authority to hire and terminate
Conducts performance reviews, manages discipline, and motivates the team
Hold a team accountable for training initiatives, achieving goals, developing knowledge of company products, services, and programs, and ensuring they are following company policies and procedures
Create and maintain an environment where all staff are treated with dignity and respect, fostering a spirit of teamwork and cooperation
Coordinates and executes the scheduling of staff for off-site tastings and events
Responsible for the Financial Results of the tasting room:
Ensure Tasting Room meets or exceeds sales and payroll goals, utilizing effective communication, organization, and leadership skills
Plan, prioritize, and adjust schedules and daily agendas to meet business goals
Managing store operation procedures per company guidelines, ensuring accurate inventory procedures and levels, payroll, opening and closing procedures, money handling, cash control procedures, tracking and reporting of the tasting room expenditures, all square functions, etc.
Assist with benchmark information as needed
Coordinates and executes off-premises tastings and events, including staffing
Planning and promoting location functions, including food trucks, music, in-store events, etc.
Responsible for scheduling staff for bottling, shipping, kitchen, events, packing, and unpacking after events
Coordinate/communicate details/instructions to event staffing
Responds to issues and concerns with events onsite and offsite with staff members
Submission of recipes and other details needed for the wine and beverage trails
Partnership with the wine and beverage trail, including events
Prepares invoicing of products for wholesale accounts
Works with the Sales Territory Manager on invoicing and samples needed from the tasting Room, and staffing for liquor store events
Creates and maintains spreadsheets approved by supervisors
Collaborates with the team for information to include in the weekly staff newsletter
Perform all duties with the highest standard of quality and cleanliness
Maintenance of wine bottle inventory for retail and tasting purposes
Manage retail general merchandise, order merchandise, maintain inventory levels, and visual displays
Handles donation and basket requests approved by management
Monitors and assists with Airbnb and Harvest host reservations and any other needs
Managing customer online ordering and shipping revenues
Manage all aspects of shipping, ensure shipping products are stocked, and communicate any shipping material needs
Assists with accurately counting and entering monthly inventory wine counts into Square
Collaborate with marketing/social media departments

Must have two years of retail experience
Education/Experience:
Must have a degree in business or two years’ experience, including Profit & Loss responsibility.

Work Schedule:
A minimum of 40 hours per week is required, but more time may be required when needed.
This position will require you to be available days, nights, weekends, and have the flexibility to work at our other locations when needed, including off-site events.
