    Tax Accountant

    A company in Rockville is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Tax Accountant to join their dynamic finance team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in tax accounting and compliance, with the ability to navigate complex financial regulations and contribute to our organization's financial health. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments.

    This position will be onsite 5 days a week, with a salary range of $75k to $95k.

    Responsibilities:

    • Prepare and review tax trial balances and accounting adjustments, as needed, to maintain fixed asset accounting and comply with tax accounting principles.
    • Analysis of lease agreements to determine and document proper tax treatment of leave incentives.
    • Analysis of expenditures to determine proper capitalization under current tax law.
    • Maintenance of depreciation schedules.
    • Prepare complex federal and multi-state tax returns, including partnerships (Form 1065), trusts (Form 1041), and high-net-worth individuals (1040).
    • Review of federal and multi-state tax returns and tax work papers, including partnerships (Form 1065), trusts (Form 1041), and high-net-worth individuals (1040).
    • Review personal property returns for various state jurisdictions, including DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
    • Manage the filing of personal property tax returns for various state jurisdictions.
    • Prepare Federal and State tax projections, including partnerships, trusts, and Individuals, for extension and quarterly estimate payments.
    • Manage tax payments.
    • Tax research and special projects.
    • Manage PE schedule that captures information for PE entities.
    • Assisting Manager training staff.
    • Execute other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, a degree in Taxation a plus.
    • 2+ years of public accounting or a combination of education and experience
    • Partnership tax experience, preferably real estate.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel.
    • Experience with CCH Tax products a plus
    • Experience with advanced client workpaper preparation and management a plus
    • Knowledge of Yardi general ledger software a plus
    • Trust Accounting, Private Equity, and/or State Income Tax experience a plus
