As we expand, we seek a highly skilled tax specialist with deep expertise in estate, gift, and trust taxation to join our team.

    Overview We are seeking an experienced Tax Specialist in Estates, Gifts, and Trusts to prepare and review fiduciary tax returns (Form 1041), estate tax returns (Form 706), and gift tax returns (Form 709). This role requires a strong technical understanding of complex tax rules, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work with sensitivity and discretion.

    Responsibilities

    Prepare and review federal and state fiduciary income tax returns (Form 1041).

    Prepare estate tax returns (Form 706) and gift tax returns (Form 709).

    Participate in client consultations on estate, gift, and trust tax matters and help identify additional service needs.

    Support business development efforts by recognizing opportunities to expand services during client engagements.

    Collaborate with attorneys, financial advisors, and family representatives on trust and estate matters.

    Research complex estate and gift tax issues and provide guidance to clients and internal staff.

    Maintain organized client files and document all work according to firm procedures.

    Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, beneficiaries, and third parties.

    Stay current on changes in estate and trust tax regulations and compliance requirements.

    Qualifications

    Minimum of 5 years' recent experience preparing estate, gift, and trust tax returns.

    Strong knowledge of estate planning, fiduciary accounting, and tax law.

    Proficiency in tax software (e.g., CCH Axcess or similar).

    EA or CPA required.

    Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.

    Ability to handle sensitive client information with discretion.

    Preferred Experience

    Experience with high-net-worth estates and complex gifting strategies

    Familiarity with probate filings, trust administration, or related legal processes.

    Experience preparing and filing estate tax returns involving portability elections (Form 706 Part 6) and understanding of Deceased Spousal Unused Exclusion (DSUE) transfer.
