    Tax Accountant

    Position Overview

Aligned Solutions is looking for a Tax Accountant for a well respected company. We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tax Accountant to manage and support all aspects of the company’s tax compliance and planning functions. This position involves close coordination with an external CPA firm for the preparation and filing of federal and state returns, as well as oversight of sales and use tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of federal and state tax laws relevant to the construction industry and demonstrate the ability to navigate evolving regulations with confidence and precision.
This role may be structured as part-time or full-time, depending on candidate availability and organizational needs.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Serve as the primary point of contact with the external CPA firm for preparing and reviewing federal, state, and local income tax returns.

    • Provide necessary documentation, track progress and deadlines, and participate in review meetings to ensure timely and accurate filings.

    • Prepare and submit tax returns that are completed internally, including multi-state sales and use tax filings (monthly, quarterly, and annually).

    • Conduct research on sales and use tax laws in multiple states—covering nexus rules, exemption criteria, and industry-specific applications.

    • Train internal teams on sales tax requirements, including appropriate documentation for vendors, subcontractors, and clients.

    • Advise leadership on the tax implications of contracts, materials purchases, equipment acquisitions, and capital expenditures.

    • Monitor and assess the impact of new or changing tax legislation on the company’s operations.

    • Maintain compliance with multi-state tax nexus and related reporting obligations.

    • Support quarterly and annual tax forecasting, reconciliations, and the preparation of supporting schedules.

    • Assist with managing tax audits and responding to inquiries from federal and state tax authorities.

    • Collaborate with senior management on strategic tax planning, cash flow management, and optimization initiatives.

    • Ensure organized recordkeeping of all tax filings, payments, and supporting documentation.

    • Participate in year-end close activities and coordinate with external auditors and advisors as needed.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline (CPA or EA designation preferred).

    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in tax accounting, ideally within a construction or multi-state business environment.

    • Comprehensive understanding of federal, state, and local tax compliance requirements.

    • Hands-on experience with sales and use tax filings, research, and compliance.

    • Knowledge of construction accounting principles and job costing methodologies is highly desirable.

    • Experience in the renewable energy or solar sector is a plus.

    • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.

    • Ability to work independently while maintaining clear and proactive communication with cross-functional teams.

    Compensation and Benefits

    • Competitive salary commensurate with experience.

    • Flexible work options, including part-time or full-time arrangements.

    • Comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, 401(k), paid time off, and more.

    • Opportunity to contribute to a growing and forward-thinking construction organization with multi-state operations.

  • Compensation
    $80,000 per year
