Title : Tax Compliance Supervisor
Reports To : Tax Supervisor
POSITION SUMMARY: Tax Compliance Supervisor ensures that work delegated by the firm’s CEO are completed accurately and timely including the filing for sales tax and CDFTA reporting. Clear communication with internal and external clients regarding deadlines and project details. This role requires exceptionally strong organization, communication and time management skills.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Incorporations, Revivor’s, Statement of Information, CDTFA, POA’s, monthly tax returns, quarterly tax returns, and Dissolutions.
- Entity formation, dissolutions and maintenance, change of entity type, SOS filings, and any other compliance work as needed.
- Process tax payments on behalf of clients
- Audit Coordination: manage relationships with external auditors and tax authorities during audits and inquiries. Prepare necessary documentation and responses.
- Compliance tax filings. Filing of sales & cannabis CDTFA reporting. Setting up CDTFA access for Clients. Local tax filings as needed. Thorough work paper documentation for each filing.
- Communication with taxing agencies on client’s behalf.
- Supervise and mentor junior staff. Provide training and support to ensure team members are knowledgeable about tax compliance issues.
- Review and track all reoccurring sales and tax notices
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Technical Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance or work related experience.
- 3-5 years of recognized Compliance related work and understanding of tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Analytical Skills with ability to analyze complex tax situation and develop strategic solutions.
- Attention to detail to ensure filings and documentation are accurate and complete
- QuickBooks Experience: Transactional accounting with QuickBooks experience, a minimum of 2 years of recent experience working within QuickBooks Online or QuickBooks desktop
- Exceptional time management and organization skills.
- Proficient in Office products, Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Solution-oriented; problem-solver.
- Exceptionally strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in developing strong remote team relationships based on trust, accountability, integrity, and sharing of best practices.
- Willingness to follow established policies and procedures.
- Technology Skills: Proficient with technology; solid knowledge of computer operations and software.
- Self-Discipline & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to work in a very fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. Problem-solving and critical thinking skills required to resolve clients bookkeeping.
