We’ve invested in new technology and redesigned processes to deliver tax strategy year-round. The Tax Manager will lead this shift by implementing the planning model, training staff, overseeing tax operations, and ensuring the team focuses on the right work at the right time.
This role is built to grow into full leadership of the tax department, working closely with our Practice Manager to align strategy, manage workflows, and support team growth.

My duties and responsibilities in this position are: The Tax Manager leads the day-to-day operations of the tax department and ensures high-quality service to clients. This includes tax prep and review, team leadership, and helping implement our shift toward year-round, planning-first engagements.
Key duties include:
Deliver timely, strategic tax advice across all engagements
Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, businesses, and trusts
Lead prep on complex or high-value clients and support staff workload during peak season
Provide technical review, coaching, and mentorship to senior associates and support staff
Oversee daily tax operations and ensure timely workflow completion
Champion firmwide use of tax planning software; serve as internal trainer and expert
Lead tax planning and scenario modeling for business and HNW clients; identify and convert advisory opportunities
Partner with Practice Manager to improve workflows, project prioritization, and workload balancing
Ensure tax law compliance and internal quality control
Respond to IRS and state notices; conduct tax research as needed
Contribute to process documentation and firmwide efficiency initiatives
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required for this Position:
This role requires strong tax knowledge, leadership, and a forward-thinking mindset. Candidates should be comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, client-first environment.
Must already have or demonstrate:
Proficiency in individual, corporate, partnership, and fiduciary tax law
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple deadlines
Strong written and verbal communication; explain complex concepts clearly
Familiarity with tax software and workflow/project management systems
Experience training and mentoring staff
Professional judgment and problem-solving skills
A client-first attitude with a commitment to responsive, strategic service
Expected to develop within 3 months:
Proficiency with our tax planning tools and ability to lead internal training
Familiarity with our workflow systems and project tracking
Understanding of key client relationships and service standards
Ability to spot opportunities to improve planning strategies, processes, and communication
Experience required for this position:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting (or equivalent work experience)
4+ years of tax and accounting experience with individuals and small/mid-sized businesses
CPA or EA license (preferred)
Experience with QuickBooks and tax software (UltraTax preferred)
Direct client-facing experience, including planning and return delivery
Experience training, mentoring, or supervising staff
