Overall Purpose and Objective of Position:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Tax Manager to join our team and help shape the future of our tax strategy across North America. The tax manager’s objective is the sound management of the North American tax position including U.S. and Canadian compliance, planning, audits and system integration.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Skills:
As a Tax Manager, you will lead compliance and planning efforts, drive innovation in tax systems, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to unlock value and reduce risk. This role offers the opportunity to mentor and grow a high-performing tax team while gaining exposure to global tax strategy and executive leadership.
Compliance:
Lead the preparation and review of diverse tax filings, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across U.S. and Canadian jurisdictions, including:
Income (U.S. federal and state, Canadian federal and provincial)
Excise (motor fuel)
Property (real and personal)
Canadian GST / PST
Commercial feed, seed, and fertilizer
Sales and Use
Unclaimed property
Prepare and review analysis to support income tax provisions and preparation of estimated payments.
Manage tax audits.
Research and Planning:
Research tax laws to ensure compliance and reduce risks.
Identify and implement tax planning strategies to reduce or mitigate tax.
Collaborate with tax, finance, business development, and commercial teams to obtain tax credits and other incentives.
Partner with cross-functional teams to identify licensing needs in new and existing jurisdictions.
Process Improvement:
Continually develop, improve, and streamline processes and procedures for tax return preparation.
Drive automation and innovation in tax systems.
Supervision:
Collaboration:
Support North American and global tax departments with diverse and challenging initiatives.
Identify opportunities to enhance the overall LDC tax position through critical evaluation and identification of solutions.
Qualifications

Preferred qualification:
Preference to individuals with previous supervisory responsibility.
Preference to individuals with previous experience dealing with state and federal departments of revenue including resolution of issues and audits.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of SALT
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (including any physical demands)
Basic qualifications:
Ability to work independently to problem solve.
Ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks to accommodate strict monthly deadlines.
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Adobe, SharePoint
Strong oral and written communication skills
