We are looking for a motivated professional who possesses a client-forward mindset, positive attitude, and strong technical expertise. Position Overview
The Tax Manager is responsible for overseeing a variety of tax engagements, reviewing tax returns, providing tax planning and consulting services, and serving as a trusted advisor to clients. This role works closely with partners, staff, and clients to ensure engagements are completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with firm standards.

Core Responsibilities
Tax Compliance & Consulting
• Review federal and state tax returns, including Forms 1120, 1120S, 1065, 1041 and 1040 • Review Forms 990 for nonprofit organizations and Texas Franchise Tax Reports • Research complex tax issues and develop recommendations for clients and firm leadership • Identify tax planning opportunities and assist clients in achieving their financial and business objectives • Provide consulting services related to tax compliance, planning, entity structure, and operational matters • Ensure engagements are completed accurately and timely while maintaining firm quality standards • Monitor tax law changes and communicate impacts to clients and team members
Client Relationship Management
• Serve as the primary relationship manager for assigned clients • Develop and maintain long-term client relationships through proactive communication and responsiveness • Meet with clients to discuss tax matters, planning opportunities, and business concerns • Identify opportunities for additional services and collaborate with firm leadership to support client needs • Maintain a strong understanding of clients' businesses, industries, and goals
Team Leadership & Development
• Review work prepared by Tax Accountants and Tax Seniors and provide constructive feedback • Assist with training, coaching, and professional development efforts within the tax department • Delegate work appropriately and monitor engagement progress to ensure deadlines are met • Support recruiting, onboarding, and retention initiatives as needed • Foster a collaborative, positive, and growth-oriented team environment
Engagement Management
• Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously while balancing deadlines and staffing needs • Coordinate project timelines and expectations with clients, team members, and firm leadership • Monitor engagement budgets and productivity goals • Ensure client deliverables meet firm standards for accuracy, professionalism, and service excellence • Assist partners with practice management and department initiatives as assigned
Technology & Professional Development
• Utilize firm technology and tax software to manage engagements efficiently and accurately • Maintain proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, and related software applications • Stay current on tax law changes, industry developments, and professional standards • Participate in continuing professional education and industry involvement • Perform other duties as assigned by firm leadership
Qualifications
Education
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field • Completion of at least 30 hours of college-level accounting coursework • Active CPA license required
Experience
• Five to eight years of public accounting tax experience preferred • Experience reviewing business, trust, individual, nonprofit, and franchise tax returns • Experience managing client relationships and multiple engagements simultaneously • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop team members
