    Edgar Law Group, LLP, a premier tax law firm headquartered in San Jose, is growing and seeking an experienced and strategic Tax Advisor (CPA) to join our high-performing, client-centered team. In this role, you’ll engage directly with clients facing high-stakes federal and state tax challenges. You’ll advise on a broad spectrum of issues—including income tax, payroll tax, sales and use tax, capital gains, and entity-level tax compliance—while helping individuals and businesses resolve complex disputes with the IRS, California Franchise Tax Board (FTB), Employment Development Department (EDD), and CDTFA. You will also lead or collaborate on cross-disciplinary matters involving tax-driven business planning, entity formation, estate administration, and bankruptcy structuring—leveraging our firm’s collaborative, multidisciplinary model to drive exceptional outcomes. Responsibilities: • Act as a trusted tax advisor, managing client relationships and addressing daily tax issues for a diverse clientele. • Educate clients on IRS collection processes, timelines, and best practices for avoiding future tax issues. • Manage deadlines related to IRS Notices (e.g., CP504, LT11) and ensure appropriate action is taken before escalation (e.g., before levy or lien issuance). • Offer federal tax compliance and consulting services tailored to specific industries. • Prepare accurate federal, state, and international income tax returns in line with regulations and deadlines. • Oversee income tax accounting for US and international subsidiaries, including tax provisions and compliance with accounting standards. • Stay updated on various tax resolution options such as Installment Agreements and Offer in Compromise. • Evaluate multiple collection resolution paths and document rationale based on the taxpayer’s financial condition. • Provide strategic tax planning guidance and supervision for tax planning initiatives. • Serve as the main point of contact with external audit firms and tax authorities regarding tax accounting and audit matters. • Establish and enforce internal controls for income tax accounting to ensure compliance and manage financial risks. • Develop and implement short-term and long-term tax strategies in collaboration with clients. • Analyze IRS and State financial statements for optimal resolution. • Negotiate resolution programs with the IRS and State Revenue Departments effectively. • Communicate with the IRS and State Revenue Departments on behalf of clients. • Research diverse tax issues, address inquiries from tax authorities, and offer recommendations to clients. • Coordinate with specialty tax practices on complex tax matters in various areas. • Manage client engagements, billing, and collections to achieve profitability targets. Qualifications: • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related business field is required for this Tax Consultant - CPA position in San Jose, CA, US. • Having a CPA certification is a must, with a Master’s in Taxation considered an added advantage. • Previous experience with the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) would be beneficial. • Demonstrated success in corresponding effectively with the IRS, including Revenue Officers, is highly valued. • The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in federal tax compliance and advisory services within a professional services firm. • In-depth knowledge of tax law, regulations, IRS, and State collection processes is essential. • Strong leadership skills with experience in supervising and mentoring tax professionals are required. • Excellent communication skills, both with clients and internally, are a key aspect of this role. • Proficiency in tax software and the Microsoft Office Suite is a necessary skill set. • Commitment to continuous learning, ethical integrity, and timely project completion are qualities we value in our team members.
