    Job Title: Tax Office Assistant/Bookkeeper

    ** Job Overview:**
    We are looking for a diligent and detail-oriented Tax Office Assistant/Bookkeeper to join our team, providing essential support in managing financial records and assisting with tax-related duties in a fast paced environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, have a thorough understanding of basic bookkeeping principles, understand financial statements and be able to multitask. This role is integral to maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the smooth operation of our tax office.

    ** Key Responsibilities:**

    1. Greet clients, schedule appointments, scan documents
    2. Assist in preparing and maintaining bookkeeping records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries in Xero and Quickbooks
    3. Support the preparation and filing of tax documents and ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations and deadlines.
    4. Reconcile bank statements and record daily financial transactions to ensure financial data accuracy.
    5. Support payroll processing
    6. Collaborate with the team to manage month-end and year-end closing processes.
    7. Provide administrative support to the tax office, including data entry, document filing, and handling client inquiries.
    8. Maintain and update client records and files with the utmost confidentiality and accuracy.
    9. Support email and secure portal inquiries

    ** Qualifications:**

    - High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
    - Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar role, ideally within a tax office or financial environment.
    - Strong proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, and familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero).
    - Excellent attention to detail and a strong ability to maintain accuracy in financial data and reporting.
    - Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with colleagues and clients.
    - Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and work independently as well as part of a team.
    - Familiarity with tax-related procedures and regulations is a plus.
