  • Responsibilities

    The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) assists the Director of Nursing (DON) in providing operational leadership and is responsible for all nursing and other designated resident care functions and services within the organization. The role assumes responsibility for assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing and evaluating nursing practice on a facility level. The role assumes 24/7 responsibility and has accountability to ensure high quality, safe and appropriate nursing care, competency of clinical staff, and appropriate resource management related to resident care.

    Job Duties:
    Responsible for all clinical nursing.

    Oversees the staffing and scheduling for assigned departments.

    Ensure 24/7 supervision for nursing and clinical staff.

    Promotes a culture of safety and a just culture that encourages the identification and communication of problems regarding issues that may surface between professionals and residents.

    Collaborates with physicians in the development, review, and revision of evidenced-based, physician approved policies, procedures and physician order sets.

    Oversees nursing and clinical leadership through attendance at committee meetings.

    Recruitment, orientation, training, evaluations and competencies of nursing.

    Promotes a culture of collaboration between the Medical Staff, Nursing and Clinical Departments.

    Drives quality resident care as a strategic initiative.

    Promotes professional environment that yields respect for residents and staff. Acts as resident and staff advocate.

    Protects residents' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal, medical and financial information per HIPAA.

    Accessible to all.

    Available to provide leadership and or direct nursing care and during unmet needs or times of disaster.

    Interfaces and works closely with the Quality.

    Provide direct response to all resident concerns.

    Skills/Qualifications:
    RN Required (BSN Preferred), Current Licensure, Experience Required, EMR/EHR Experience, Clinical Skills, Bedside Manner, Infection Control, Nursing Skills, Physiological Knowledge, Administering Medication, Medical Teamwork, Multi-tasking, Listening, Verbal Communication, Health Promotion and Maintenance
