PAYROLL SPECIALIST JOB DUTIES: 

• Collect, verify and ensure payroll is processed efficiently and accurately
• Calculate bi-weekly payroll for 175+/- hourly and salary employees, including preparing payroll data for processing
• Post and maintain up-to-date employee data in multiple systems
• Coordinate and facilitate onboarding process and orientation
• Perform internal controls checks and make corrections related to payroll processes
• Reconcile insurance bills and help with all benefit administration
• Prepare reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes and deductions
• Ability to respond timely to routine payroll inquiries/concerns, employment verifications, and handle any payroll system maintenance issues
• Basic knowledge of accounting principles and general ledger systems, specifically related to the impact of payroll transactions on the company’s financial statements.
• Perform other duties as assigned

PAYROLL SPECIALIST SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Bachelor’s degree a plus, but not required
• 1+ years of relevant payroll experience
• Experience with multi-state payroll and garnishments required
• Must possess a thorough knowledge of Federal (David Bacon Act) and State prevailing wage laws, calculating, validating and reporting prevailing wage rates, fringe benefits and certified payroll hours
• Strong Microsoft Office skills
• Solid critical thinking and attention to detail
• Superb communications skills required
