    Job Description

    The Taylor & Francis Philadelphia journals production department is seeking a full-time Production Editor (II) to work on our diverse list of academic journals.  The office is conveniently located in Old City Philadelphia and is accessible by public transportation. Please note that there is little to no writing, copy editing, or proofreading included in the position; the position is largely project management.  

    Production Editors are the core position within the production department at Taylor & Francis.  As such, Production Editors are assigned a group of journals that they are responsible for from receipt of manuscripts through print/online publication. Production Editors oversee manuscript and issue production while maintaining article and issue schedules, page budgets, and communication with authors and Editors-in-Chief as well as interoffice departments. The Production Editor II must have an eye for detail and organization and be able to manage complex journals and personalities, stay on top of updated processes, and multi-task and excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

    WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

    • Manage a portfolio of titles, including assigned vendor-managed journals, ensuring that they run on optimized workflows and meet department publication metrics
    • Offer constructive support and guidance to assigned vendor project managers
    • Provide excellent customer service for assigned Editors-in-Chief, authors, internal departments, and external vendors and customers
    • Assist and lead on local and global department projects as required

    • Minimum of two years’ experience in a publishing environment
    • Professional, relevant experience 
    • A strong command of English grammar and academic styles
    • Successfully thrive in a fast, process-driven workflow
    • Experience working with external suppliers and partners
    • Experience working in a customer-facing role
    • Familiarity with Microsoft Office software, content management, and/or customer relationship management systems
    • Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented, accurate, and a problem-solver
    • Excellent organization skills and confidence in completing multiple tasks to deadlines
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, oral and written
    • Flexibility to adjust to changes in works plans or assignments
