    Position Overview

    Tx-Star Speech Language Services is seeking a Teacher Assistant to support classroom instruction and assist in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) under the direction of a certified teacher or licensed service provider. This is a contract position located in the San Antonio area, working within a school-based setting.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Assist teachers in delivering instructional activities and supporting students’ educational goals.

    • Provide one-on-one or small-group support to students as directed.

    • Help maintain a positive, inclusive, and well-organized classroom environment.

    • Support students with special needs in alignment with their IEP or 504 plans.

    • Assist with classroom management, behavioral support, and supervision during transitions or activities.

    • Prepare and organize instructional materials and classroom supplies.

    • Document student progress and communicate observations to supervising teachers or specialists.

    • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all district and Tx-Star Speech Language Services policies.

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or higher degree preferred).

    • Experience working in a school or special education environment preferred.

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

    • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and school staff.

    • Dependable, organized, and committed to student success.

    • Must pass a background check and meet school district onboarding requirements.

    Schedule & Compensation

    • Contract position aligned with the school calendar.

    • Full-time or part-time schedules may be available depending on placement.

    • Competitive hourly rate based on experience.
