We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate teacher to join our high-energy team! The Mother’s Day Out (MDO) 1st & 2nd grade teacher will work under the direction of the MDO coordinator to provide children transitioning from kindergarten with the skills and knowledge needed to advance to later grades. The teacher will work directly with up to 10 first- and second-grade students by providing structured lessons, evaluating individual student progress, grading assignments, and fostering an environment of positive social development.
Hours
This part-time position will be scheduled for approximately 28 hours per week, Monday through Thursday (MDO class days) from 9:00 to 3:30, with additional prep time during the week. The MDO schedule is aligned with the MISD school year schedule and is not offered during winter break or during the summer months.
Highlighted Job Responsibilities
Working across grade levels, recognize individual students’ needs and accommodate students who learn at different paces, using different styles and methods, within the same classroom or group.
Use various assessment methods to evaluate student progress; provide mentorship and support to students.
Apply effective classroom management strategies, including setting clear expectations, modeling desired behaviors, and involving students in creating classroom rules.
Honor, serve, and show respect to our families, their children, and members of the childcare team.
Must demonstrate genuine love for children and a desire to nurture their spiritual growth.
Attend MDO staff/training meetings as required.
Maintain required health/safety training credentials.
Must attend one regular church service a week at a church of your choosing.
Qualifications
Profess Jesus Christ as Savior and lead by His example in word and deed with biblical teaching.
Must possess a current Texas Educator’s Certificate.
A minimum of 5 years of experience as a teacher is required; 10 years of experience is preferred.
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in elementary education is strongly preferred.
Experience developing primary-level curriculum is required.
Have current CPR and first aid training, and/or be willing to get certified at the time of hire.
Must pass a drug test and background check administered by the church.
