    Qualifications:

    BS Degree or higher

    Tennessee Licensed Teacher with elementary endorsement

    Purpose Statement:

    The primary function of the SRSD Writing Coordinator is to provide training and supervision to teachers and staff to assure implementation of classroom instructional objectives, lessons, and strategies that are congruent with the needs of students in Hawkins County Schools. The SRSD Writing Coordinator supports the staff in identifying and/or designing appropriate educational resources, including supports and curriculum aligned with the TN State Standards and each student’s Individualized Educational Plan. The Instructional Coordinator will support staff in acquiring the skills and application of best practices to enhance professional growth of staff in instructional practices for all students to raise the level of student achievement and to support students in learning essential academic skills that will contribute to their growth.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Assists with planning and conducting professional development for staff in collaboration with building principal and in alignment with district goals and initiatives.

    • Develops strategies for maintaining a classroom environment conducive to student learning and utilizes effective teaching methods and employs a variety of instructional techniques appropriate to the age level, interests, and needs of the students.

    • Create monthly reports for all stakeholders involved.

    • Collaborate with supervisors, principals, and teachers on incentive programs for students that are making progress.

    • Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the school.

    • Maintains ongoing relationships with supervisors, principals, teachers/staff, and parents regarding systems-change initiatives.

    • Provides appropriate assessment support to identify student capabilities and monitor student progress on a regular basis through data analysis and problem solving.

    • Reviews best practices literature, conducts applied research, and participates in the advancement of the field as appropriate.

    • Provide instructional leadership through curriculum and assessment selection and implementation.

    • Assists teachers with implementing classroom instruction by applying knowledge of best practices and the TN State Standards in instruction for students.

    • Assists in the evaluation of staff under the supervision of the Principal and/or Supervisors.

    Capacity and Ability Requirements:

    The usual job demands requires the following physical requirements: some lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, some stooping, kneeling, and physical dexterity.

    Terms of Employment:

    Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the District.

    Evaluation:

    Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
