    Yes For Chess is looking to hire a Teacher Support Specialist to join our team!
    The Teacher Support Specialist supports operations twice a week in our main office in Fremont, while working
    with students in the afternoon at schools near Milpitas, San Jose, Sunnyvale, Santa Clara, and Palo Alto. New hire is expected to work 14 to 16 hours per week.

    At Yes For Chess, we use chess to teach children problem-solving, planning, and
    patience in an after-school setting. We are looking for individuals to join our team
    of instructors who teach chess fundamentals to elementary school students.

    Some tasks of the Teacher Support Specialist:

    • - Answer parent questions about our program (email & phone)
      - Record and maintain databases
      - Assist with hiring and staff orientation
      - Work with students ages 6-11 to learn the fundamentals of chess
      - Help train newly hired instructors

    • - Supervise and evaluate quality of classes

    • - Oversee student safety and the parent pick-up process at a school campus

    - You are not required to be great at chess! If you enjoy chess and are willing to
    improve your skills, we can show you what we know! Candidates should have
    experience working with youth, preferably elementary-aged students, such as
    tutoring, volunteering, or other verifiable experiences.

    The Teacher Support Specialist part-time position starts at $20 to $23 an hour working in our office.

    While teaching in the classroom with students, this role would start at $25 to $27 an hour.

    Partial compensation is provided for miles driven to school sites.
    This position is also eligible for our retirement plan.

    Ideal candidates for a Teacher Support Specialist:

    - Can commit 14+ hours per week during the school year
    - Can pass a background check
    - Able to drive to different school locations and the main office in Fremont
    - Responsible with confidential records
    - Experience with Google Workspace (Drive, Docs, Sheets) and Microsoft Office
    - Experience working with youth ages 6-11 (tutor, volunteering, etc.)

    Yes for Chess was created in 2008 with the idea to use chess to teach children
    critical thinking and creative problem-solving in a fun setting! This concept was
    quickly embraced by schools and parents, which allowed us to teach thousands of
    students throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

    Job Type: Part-time

    Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
