    Help Students Reach Their Potential

    TX-STAR Speech Language Services works with school districts across Texas to provide specialized educational support for students with a variety of learning needs. We are currently seeking Teachers of Students with Visual Impairments for school-based opportunities throughout Texas.

    These positions are ideal for educators who are dedicated to improving accessibility, building student independence, and ensuring learners with visual impairments can participate fully in classroom instruction and school activities.

    Your Role and Responsibilities

    As a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments, you will deliver individualized instruction and accessibility support based on each student’s visual functioning, educational goals, and unique learning needs.

    In this role, you will:

    • Complete appropriate assessments to identify students’ visual functioning, academic strengths, and areas requiring additional support

    • Provide direct and consultative instruction tailored to students with visual impairments

    • Convert lessons, assignments, and educational resources into accessible formats such as Braille and large print

    • Incorporate assistive technology, tactile materials, and specialized learning tools when appropriate

    • Implement instructional goals, services, and accommodations outlined in students’ Individualized Education Programs

    • Coordinate with classroom teachers, related-service providers, campus staff, and multidisciplinary teams

    • Consult with families and school personnel regarding accessibility strategies, student needs, and educational progress

    • Help students strengthen independent learning, self-advocacy, and functional skills

    • Monitor student performance and modify instructional supports based on progress

    • Complete service records, assessment reports, progress updates, and required compliance documentation accurately and on time

    Qualifications for This Position

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university

    • Current and valid Texas teaching certification

    • Texas certification as a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments

    • Knowledge of effective instructional approaches for students with visual impairments

    • Ability to evaluate visual functioning using appropriate assessment tools and procedures

    • Familiarity with accessible educational materials, assistive technology, and specialized instructional resources

    • Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and interpersonal skills

    • Ability to address diverse learning needs and provide effective behavioral and instructional support
