    Job Description

    Computes, classifies, records, and verifies numerical data for use in maintaining accounting records. Responsible for all of the bookkeeping functions associated with accounts receivable, deposits, cash, accounts payable, disbursements. Responsible for all functions associated with debt, tax and insurance for property and company fiduciary accounts. Computes, classifies, records, and verifies numerical data for use in maintaining accounting records. Responsible for all of the bookkeeping functions associated with reconciliation’s for property and company fiduciary accounts. Must be capable of performing duties with limited supervision.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

    • Verifies and posts details of business transactions, such as funds received and disbursed, and totals accounts to ledgers or computer spreadsheets and databases.
    • Audits invoices against purchase orders, researches discrepancies, and approves for payment.
    • Prepares checks, account statements, reports, and other records, and reviews for accuracy.
    • Extracts general ledger information.
    • Reconciles report discrepancies and problems.
    • Codes data for input to financial data processing system according to company procedures.
    • Reviews, balances, and interprets computer reports, and makes corrections.
    • Prepare and maintain audit work papers and account analysis on an ongoing basis.
    • Help prepare financial reports and spreadsheets as requested.
    • Research and analyze property receivables as needed.
    • Maintain an organized filing system for all accounting documents.
    • Maintain fiduciary deposit folder for each month.
    • Process invoices to complexes.  
    • Prepare any deposits for all property fiduciary accounts held by each code and post to computer system.
    • Review accounts receivable at month end.
    • Maintain fiduciary deposit folder for each month.
    • Review invoices for accuracy and approval.
    • Prepare and input invoices in approved batches daily.
    • Process month end reports and check for accuracy.
    • Keeps record of work completed.
    • Reviews error reports and enters corrections into computer.
    • Transmits entered information into database.
    • Files or routes source documents after entry.
    • Responds to inquiries regarding entered data.
    • Process 1099s.
    • Process/issue/void site checks.
    • Process accounts payable checks and related reports.
    • Process emergency checks and input manual checks.
    • Responsible for distribution of lender information to appropriate participants.
    • Maintain lenders escrow and internal escrow accounts.
    • Complete Journal entries.
    • Responsible for real estate taxes and insurance premiums payments.
    • Process Mortgage payments.
    • Edit vendor set up.
    • Process stop payments for properties and corporate office.
    • Reconcile bank statements.
    • Other duties may be assigned.

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

    Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or five years of accounting experience and/or training.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

    COMPUTER SKILLS

    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Yardi accounting software experience is a plus.
