    PURCHASING AGENT - BUDA, TX

    TARGET SALARY RANGE = $55,000 to $67,000

    SUMMARY:

    The primary responsibility of a purchasing agent is to ensure sufficient supply of third-party goods and quality of required materials at the best price possible, on time from various qualified suppliers in accordance with MRP demand. The focus is on quality, material availability, inventory investment and pricing. The purchasing agent should remain focused on activities and metrics that drive improved performance in these four areas.

    WHAT YOU'LL DO:

    • Responsible to review and interpret MRP demand weekly/daily, identify item movements and other requirements to determine purchase needs, cut PO's (purchase order), review PO (purchase order) confirmations, change orders, expedites, etc., in support of a volume production operation(s)

    • Accountable to successfully focus on making the business profitable by Purchasing good quality products, on time, at a competitive price, using only fully approved (Corporate) suppliers and following corporate contracts.

    • Ensures prompt and effective delivery of essential materials and services to the organization with minimum time lag by determining which method of procurement (e.g. request for quotation, request for proposal, emergency, etc.) is appropriate and complies with regulatory guidelines.

    • Handle all credits and non-conforming returns promptly with replacement or financial correction to minimize diminish loss in conjunction with the AP & Quality support teams

    • Work closely with Purchasing Manager and Corporate Strategic Sourcing, to ensure utilizing approved suppliers and all PO's (purchase order) priced correctly to the master contract

    • Work with Transportation to maximize profitability by selecting best method of freight for inbound goods

    • Coordinate with Planning to maximize the timely utilization of all inventories, maximize inventory turns and reduce inventory shrink

    • Review inventory regularly with location Controller with focus on more critical/sensitive material items

    • Direct liaison with site planning, manufacturing operations, quality, and AP on a regular basis

    • Actively manage and negotiate transactional supplier relationships to drive measurable improvement in the areas of lead time, cost, risk, long term investment for growth and quality of supplier deliverables

    • Develops work plans to ensure supplier adjust to meet master production schedule deliveries accordingly to appropriate forward planning, knowledge of inventory management

    • Ensures all part material master set ups which support accurate MRP are correct and properly working, such as safety stock; vendor lead times, MOQ; container type etc.,

    • Conducts vendor spend analysis, identifies over/under purchases and look for cost savings opportunities.

    • Responsible to purchase materials and liaise with external vendors with the goal of securing goods with the best possible delivery dates and in accordance to contracted arrangements

    • Accountable for execution of supplier delivery schedules, to ensure timely scheduling, prioritizing, and coordinating in accordance with MRP demand and adjusted planning needs; replenishment plans to achieve service level goals while managing to lowest total supply chain cost

    • Expedite part shortages; run shortage reports to review, revise, and schedule supplier orders when necessary; adjust accordingly to align with operations to ensure maximum performance and minimum delay

    • Addresses supply chain and/or supplier issues when they arise aiming for minimum disruption in Production operation

    • Accountable to measure and monitor KPI's such as, not limited to, actual supplier material receipts vs. requested delivery date

    • Accountable to understand actual receipt price vs. PPV vs. goal, present root cause findings & resolution to Procurement Manager & site Finance partners

    • Partners directly with Planning to understand forecasts

    • Build and maintain credibility with internal business stakeholders to ensure Procurement engagement on operations, financial and technical business needs

    • Responsible for maintaining inventory turn times; accountable for identifying obsolete/expired inventory and encourage timely disposition of materials

    • Responsible to participate in supporting Strategic Sourcing / Procurement goals

    • Work closely with Procurement leadership on special projects which drive incremental value to P&L

    • Collaborate with Planning, Operations, Quality, Customer Service, Finance, and Transportation

    WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

    • Accredited 4 year college degree in Supply Chain, Business Management, Finance or other related fields
    • Minimum of 4 years' experience as a Buyer or Purchasing Agent of direct material goods supporting manufacturing/production operations
    • Advanced working knowledge and experience with MRP/ERP systems
    • Strong MS Office skills required with the emphasis on heavy Excel experience.
    • Must be a problem solver and trouble shooter
    • Ability to work and interact with cross-functional business stakeholders throughout the organization, with minimal supervision
    • Customer/stakeholder focused, able to collaborate and influence others to drive actions to meet business needs while maintaining a positive, professional outlook
    • Ability to deal effectively with pressure, multiple tasks, deadlines, and rapidly changing priorities
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills with requisite interpersonal skills to partner, collaborate and build relationships with business partners, suppliers, and regional teams
    • Experience working for CPG or Food & Beverage manufacturing environment a plus
