WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Hybrid – This position can work from home but is expected to visit customer sites and work from the local office as needed. Most likely a 50/50 split between remote and onsite work.
SUMMARY
TechConnect is seeking a dynamic, technically savvy, vCIO (Virtual Chief Information Officer) to help lead the managed services offering for an industry leading client of ours in Dallas, TX. Our client has seen a significant amount of growth in their MSP space and they need an individual that has a proven track record in the managed services arena to help enhance their service offerings, provide project guidance and deliver unbeatable customer service and solutions for their customers.
As the v/CIO you will be a technology resource and become a trusted advisor for their customers. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of information technology principals and best practices to effectively drive the vision, strategy and direction for our clients current and potential customers. You must have a broad technical background, possess a strong customer service mindset and have outstanding communication and presentation skills. You need a strong understanding of business technology processes since you will engage with customers on a daily/weekly/quarterly basis as well as help on-board new clients for the managed services division.
To be successful in this role you will need to combine your industry knowledge, industry best practices and leadership to provide guidance and direction on projects to internal team members, external customers and Executive leadership. You will provide planning, budgeting, and strategic direction to clients in relation to information technology and systems. You will focus on the business relationship with the client and leverage internal technical resources to improve operational efficiencies.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and manage IT projects.
- Interface with clients to explain critical IT issues and solutions.
- Work closely with internal network engineers and administrators to deliver a wide range of projects and services.
- Drive client satisfaction, contract renewals and discover additional opportunities.
- Strong understanding of the MSP model, pricing and best practices.
- Ability to work with a myriad of businesses, technologies, applications and personalities.
- Strong understanding of business and IT functions.
REQUIREMENTS & TECHNOLOGIES
- 3-5 years of relevant experience which may include IT Consulting, IT Management, Network Administration or Systems Engineering.
- Previous experience in this type of role for a managed services provider is a must.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher is preferred.
- Experience managing technical and non-technical individuals.
- Experience managing multiple high-level projects from inception to completion.
- Experience working with corporate businesses and customers.
- Strong IT background with a focus on implementation, consulting and/or designing technologies for businesses with 10 – 200 users in multisite environments.
- Experience in a multi-server, high-availability virtualization technologies (VMWare required, HyperV also preferred).
- Experience with Microsoft technologies including Exchange, Windows Server and Small Business Server.
- Experience with TCP/IP stack.
- Experience with firewall, routing, and switching technologies.
- Experience with Cloud technologies including Office 365 and Google applications.
- Experience with online backup system concepts and best practices.
- Knowledge of ConnectWise is strongly preferred but not required.
- MCITP, MCSE or MCSA certifications preferred but not required.
- Training, certification or experience with HIPPA and/or PCI is preferred but not required.
- Previous experience in IT consulting, MSP/SMB, or IT project management preferred but not required.
- Work effectively within a team, as well as independently.
- Exhibit good decision making, analytical problem solving, statistical analysis and excellent organizational abilities.
- Communicate effectively and manage multiple resources or projects.
- Strong documentation skills with a high attention to detail.

TRAVEL
- Once a quarter – travel to Houston to work with customers as needed.
