TITLE: HUMAN FACTORS ENGINEER / USER RESEARCHER (PART TIME TEMP ONLY POSITION - 20 HOURS A WEEK)
DURATION: 12 MONTHS
TYPE: MAINLY REMOTE, SOME ONSITE. NEED TO BE LOCAL ENOUGH TO SAN JOSE, CA TO COME ONSITE AVG 1 DAY / WEEK.

[NICE TO HAVES ON THE RESUME: “MEDICAL DEVICE” AND/OR “REGULATED” OR “REGULATORY” AND/OR “62366”] _ Seeking a self-motivated and curious Human Factors Engineer / User Researcher to improve user experience by incorporating user research into the product development cycle of medical devices. You will work closely with R&D teams to identify opportunities for research, plan appropriate testing, and execute and report results. Your work will include aspects of recruitment and scheduling of study participants, remote AV setup, and data coding. You will also contribute to or author human factors deliverables such as tasks analyses, plans, and reports. You will work on complex diagnostic systems that prep and analyze cellular samples involving hardware and software components. This position is extremely collaborative, and requires a high degree of social savvy, professionalism, and empathy for the customer. QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor’s degree in Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, HCI, or other related field with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in user research or a combination of equivalent education and experience • Experience with conducting user feedback sessions and/or usability tests including data coding • Experience writing user research plans, scripts, reports • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with others in a multi-disciplinary team • Excellent written and oral communication skills • Should be self-directed with effective time management skills • Desired: Master’s degree in Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, HCI, or other related field • Desired: Background or experience in the biological sciences, health care, or medical device/technology • Desired: Experience working in the regulated medical industry (IEC 62366, FDA)
