AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL – ATC TOWER FACILITY CHIEF

Job Summary

The ATC Facility Chief is responsible for planning and directing daily air traffic control. The ATC Facility Chief provides overall supervision to a team of air traffic controllers. The ATC Facility Chief develops a duty schedule and sets work priorities. The ATC Facility Chief is responsible for the training and certification of the air traffic control team and will ensure team members maintain a high level of proficiency and ATC Facility Chief functions as described in TC 3-04.15.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Plans work to be accomplished by team members. Develops works schedules to ensure proper air traffic control in accordance with Military and FAA rules and regulations requirements and is commensurate with Collective Bargaining Agreement terms (if applicable)

• Evaluates team members by observing their performance during the execution of their duties while actually controlling aircraft and airspace.
• Shall ensure Controllers meet the physical standards of AR 40-501, AR 95-2, Department of the Army Pamphlet (DA PAM) 611-21, and the Office of Personnel Management (OPM)
• Develops a training plan so team members remain proficient in their position and retain all necessary certifications
• Shall maintain a current file of pertinent regulation manuals, charts, maps and training material IAW AR 95-2 and ensures assigned personnel maintain currency
• Ensures that facility records and recordings are properly maintained and available to Government officials upon request
• Verifies that equipment, furniture, and facilities are maintained and that an adequate amount of supplies are on hand for use
• Attend meetings with Government personnel, Host Wing, or Civil Airport Management personnel
• Other responsibilities as required

_REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: _

• Have at least 7 years Air Traffic Control Experience
• Have at least 3 years of Control Tower Experience
• Have at least 3 years Managerial Experience
• Possess an active SECRET clearance or higher
• Maintain Control Tower proficiency in accordance with applicable FAA regulations
• Maintain National Weather Service (or equivalent) FAA Weather Observer currency 
• Class IV Medical Certification

The successful candidate must be able to interpret civilian and military regulations and guidance. The candidate must be able to use good judgement in the performance of air traffic control supervisory duties. The candidate must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
