Job Description

Our client in Northern California is looking for a Principal/Lead Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join their platform team. This person will work cross-functionally, be organizationally minded, and be an expert in technology. You will be hands-on in this role, helping design system architecture, and help drive projects to the finish line. This role can sit in Vancouver, BC, Las Vegas, NV, Los Angeles, CA, Portland, OR, or San Francisco, CA. RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a Principal Cloud Infrastructure Engineer you will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of the infrastructure and tooling within the company:

Lead and coordinate technical and business discussions relative to future architecture direction across multiple teams Analyze, design, and develop a roadmap and implementation plan based upon a current vs. future state Design, deploy, and manage the company's infrastructure in public clouds (AWS or GCP) Design, architect, and implement next generation automation solutions for CI/CD

Provide leadership, technology guidance and mentorship Work closely with software engineering teams to constantly improve availability of services Manage seamless upgrades of infrastructure and services through automation Leverage container platforms such as Kubernetes for large scale deployment of microservices Identify, gather, analyze and automating responses to key performance metrics, logs, and alerts Ensure infrastructure security compliance Conduct periodic on call duties as needed on a regular scheme basis

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

BA/BS in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience 6+ years of industry experience designing and implementing successful large scale infrastructure on public clouds (AWS, Azure, GCP) Fluent in one or more of: Python, Go, Java, or Ruby Hands-on experience in containerization and cloud services frameworks in both Kubernetes and AWS

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in operations, include running and maintaining software, operating a large public cloud deployment, creating and triaging alerts around the health and security Strong track record of implementing AWS services in a variety of distributed computing environments Designing, analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems

Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges Experience driving discussions with senior personnel regarding trade-offs, best practices, project management and risk mitigation Experience with logging, monitoring, and alerting tools such as New Relic, DataDog, and PagerDuty
