About StoryBoard
StoryBoard is reshaping how Hollywood finds its next big talent and content. We connect emerging creatives with industry professionals and use AI to uncover hidden gems in a sea of content. Our proprietary AI powers talent discovery, smart content tagging, and data-backed creative matchmaking—without scanning or reproducing users' creative IP—giving industry leaders the tools they need to confidently invest in original voices. We're also building blockchain-based IP protection and a feedback ecosystem to make discovery faster, fairer, and more inclusive.
Role Summary
The Technical Co-Founder / CTO will lead the development of our AI-powered semantic tagging engine and build the foundation for a scalable, secure, and ethical discovery platform. In addition to core technical leadership, this role includes co-founder responsibilities such as fundraising support, investor engagement, and strategic technical storytelling.
You'll align product priorities with technical infrastructure and long-term innovation—ensuring compliance with privacy, AI ethics, and IP protection laws.
You are an ambitious, hardworking self-starter who works and cares like you own the company—because you do. ****
Core Responsibilities
- Design and maintain StoryBoard's proprietary AI that semantically tags talent, genres, and content descriptors for discoverability, search, and analytics.
- Architect scalable backend systems to manage AI and Big Data infrastructure (e.g., smart casting, creative coverage, user voting, and dashboards).
- Ensure platform design complies with CCPA, GDPR, and other applicable data protection laws, incorporating secure user consent, anonymization, and data minimization practices.
- Oversee integration of blockchain technology and Smart-Contracts for timestamp-based IP authentication and creator-first validation.
- Collaborate with legal counsel to ensure blockchain, metadata, and smart contracts do not violate IP, copyright, or consumer protection laws.
- Build a data feedback engine that strengthens the AI with each user interaction (votes, coverage, tagging).
- Develop and enforce SOC 2-aligned security protocols across all systems, including data encryption, secure APIs, authentication, and audit readiness.
- Lead the technical team across full stack, AI/ML, data privacy, mobile (native/cross-platform), and DevSecOps disciplines.
- Implement model governance standards including bias/fairness audits, explainability tools, and model documentation (e.g., model cards).
- Partner with CEO, COO, and Product Leads to define roadmap, GTM priorities, and scale milestones.
- Collaborate on demos and technical storytelling for investor pitches, grant applications, and pitch competitions.
- Create and maintain clear documentation of all core systems, including AI/ML lifecycle, IP tracking, smart contract protocols, and data handling.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in backend, AI, or full-stack development (3+ in ML/NLP).
- Experience leading technical teams of 10+ and having served as CTO, VP Engineering, or equivalent at a startup or mid-sized company.
- Hands-on expertise in semantic search, vector databases, and platforms such as Azure OpenAI (or similar) and other Azure platforms.
- Prior startup or founding-team experience is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with blockchain and decentralized identity/IP systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge of CCPA, GDPR, and ethical data use frameworks.
- Experience with security protocols, risk mitigation, and secure cloud architecture.
- Passion for building equitable, inclusive tools that democratize access to opportunity in the creative industries.
