Technical Director

Position Summary
The Technical Director ensures that all production, technology, and digital systems at Munger Place Church effectively support worship services, ministry programs, and communication efforts. This full-time role leads the Live Production Team, oversees technology infrastructure across campus spaces, and ensures consistent execution of Sunday worship and major ministry events. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, a proven track record in sound engineering, and a servant-hearted approach that empowers volunteers and staff to create spiritually engaging, distraction-free environments where people can encounter Jesus Christ.
Primary Responsibilities
Live Production & Audio Engineering
Serve as the lead FOH engineer and oversee broadcast audio and stage tech operations.
Collaborate with the Director of Worship to plan and execute services with technical excellence.
Direct the techs in charge of lighting, video, presentation (ProPresenter), and livestream operations.
Support youth and kids ministry environments to ensure consistency in production systems and quality.
Leadership & Team Oversight
Lead, supervise, and develop production team members, including volunteers and contractors.
Manage scheduling, communication workflows, and weekend readiness for all productions.
Build a culture of excellence, teamwork, and servant leadership within the production ministry.
Provide training, performance feedback, and spiritual encouragement to team members.
Systems Management & Equipment Maintenance
Oversee all technical systems, including audio, lighting, video, networking, and IT hardware used in ministry spaces.
Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, firmware updates, diagnostic testing, and minor repairs and replacements
Assist with technology planning and capital improvement projects.
Volunteer Recruitment & Development
Recruit, train, schedule, and support volunteers in roles such as:
FOH Audio Engineer
Broadcast/Livestream Audio Tech
Camera Operators
Lighting & Presentation Operators
Stage Crew & Media Techs
Maintain standard operating procedures, training guides, and onboarding processes.
IT & Technology Operations
Serve as primary on-site liaison with outsourced IT support provider for network, hardware, and software issues.
Provide initial technical support for staff (Wi-Fi, printing, workstation setup, login access, etc.).
Maintain technology inventory and assist with lifecycle planning and purchasing.
Digital Systems Administration
Manage backend configuration and data quality within church management systems (Subsplash).
Assist with technical performance of the church website and mobile app in collaboration with the Communications Director.
Assist with media publishing workflows including sermon recording, editing, and posting.
Event & Ministry Support
Provide AV and IT support for weddings, funerals, conferences, and key outreach events.
Ensure a high level of customer service and clear communication with ministry leaders and congregants.
Maintain documentation of technical systems, access credentials, and operational workflows.
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
A mature Christian faith with a demonstrated personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Servant-leadership mindset — humility, hospitality, and a willingness to serve behind the scenes.
3–5+ years of experience in an audio engineering role; experience as a live production supervisor in a church or performance venue is preferred
Advanced proficiency in audio engineering, including digital consoles, IEMs, and RF systems.
Familiarity with lighting control, video switching, and livestream production environments.
Experience supervising volunteers or staff in high-pressure production settings.
General IT competency including basic networking and workstation troubleshooting.
Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work Sundays, evenings, and weekends as scheduled.
Availability to work additional hours during major Christian seasons, including Holy Week/Easter and Advent/Christmas.
Successful completion of a background check and full compliance with Munger Place Church’s MinistrySafe training and child protection policies.
Alignment with the mission, beliefs, and ministry philosophy of Munger Place Church.
A background in music or prior involvement with a church worship team is preferred but not required
