    Technical Project Manager

(With Former Developer / DevOps Background)

Were you once the person writing the code… and now you’re the one making sure it makes it to production successfully?

We’re looking for a Technical Project Manager who understands software development from the inside. Someone who can speak the language of engineers, understand the realities of deployments, and bring structure and accountability to complex technical initiatives.

Many of our strongest candidates started their careers as software developers, engineers, or DevOps specialists before moving into project leadership. If that sounds like your path, this role may be a strong fit.

    About the Role

As our Technical Project Manager, you’ll lead the planning and execution of initiatives across our SaaS platform, including product enhancements, infrastructure improvements, and customer deployments.

You’ll work closely with Engineering, Product, QA, and Operations to ensure projects move from idea to production with clear priorities, realistic timelines, and disciplined execution.

This role sits at the intersection of technical depth and strong project leadership.

    What You’ll Do

Lead end-to-end delivery of SaaS platform initiatives, feature releases, and infrastructure improvements

Coordinate cross-functional teams across Engineering, Product, QA, and Operations

Manage DevOps-related initiatives including CI/CD pipelines, release planning, and environment coordination

Translate technical requirements into structured project plans with clear milestones and dependencies

Facilitate Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and release reviews

Identify risks early and drive resolution before they impact delivery

Ensure production readiness and oversee post-deployment validation

Use SQL and technical insight to validate data and troubleshoot issues when needed

Maintain clear project visibility and reporting for leadership

What Makes You Successful in This Role

You started your career in development, engineering, or DevOps and later transitioned into project management

You’re comfortable reading code and discussing technical trade-offs with engineers

You know how to bring structure and accountability to technical teams without slowing them down

You understand SaaS environments, deployments, and production systems

You communicate clearly, resolve conflicts professionally, and keep teams focused on outcomes

    Experience We’re Looking For

5+ years of combined technical and project management experience

Background in software development, engineering, or DevOps

Experience managing SaaS or cloud-based application deployments

Strong SQL skills (queries, joins, validation, troubleshooting)

Experience working in Agile environments using tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field preferred

PMP, Scrum Master, or similar certification is a plus

Why This Role Works Well for Former Developers

This isn’t a role for someone who only manages timelines and meetings.

We’re looking for someone who understands the technical work, asks the right questions, and helps teams deliver complex projects successfully.

If you’ve moved from building software to leading delivery, you’ll likely feel right at home here.

This Role Is Likely NOT a Fit If

Your background is strictly project management with limited technical exposure

You are not comfortable discussing code, deployments, or system architecture

You prefer managing timelines rather than engaging in technical problem-solving
