  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    Support the Technical Trialing Team by executing assigned projects related to floriculture crop culture research, new product form testing, problem solving, product claim validation in support of new product introductions at our external trialing site at Lucas Greenhouses in Monroeville, NJ.

    Duties:

    • Support the Technical Trialing Team to develop foundational insights into strategic and tactical plant performance metrics including (but not limited to) propagation performance, growth habit, flowering response, fertility response, temperature sensitivity, day-length sensitivity, postharvest, garden performance, and related characteristics.
    • Perform assigned technical trialing to generate information required for data-driven product launches, crop culture research, new innovations, and quality improvements, etc.
    • Coordinate the daily and weekly operational tasks at the trial site keeping the Lucas Growing Team informed of projects.
    • Keep the Lucas Growing Team informed of trialing objectives and impact.
    • Execute activities related to the growing of plants for trials including propagation, transplanting, irrigation, fertilizer, plant growth regulator application, plant maintenance, etc.
    • Manage inventory of trial supplies and inform manager when ordering is needed.
    • Work with Technical Trial Manager to schedule and design technical trials and to ensure they are executed according to written protocols.
    • Manage, monitor, and record daily activities for technical trialing (e.g., trial setup, crop culture, chemical applications, data collection, etc.).
    • Collect trial data and photos for assigned trials and organize so information can be interpreted by Technical Trial Manager and other teams.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • M.S. degree in Horticulture, Floriculture, Plant Science or related field preferred.
    • B.S. degree in Horticulture, Floriculture, Plant Science or related field required.
    • Must be able to understand both R&D and commercial grower processes.
    • At least 2 years of experience in a horticulture research environment.
    • Working experience in greenhouse operations, live-good production, and horticultural sciences.
    • Excellent communication skills (written/verbal).
    • Proficient in basic computer programs (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, Power Point, etc.).
    • Motivation and drive for continuous crop quality improvement and efficiency.
    • Ability to manage time and prioritize activities.

    Additional Information

    Salary for this role is $57,600 - $65,000 per year.
