    Automation Technical Support Specialist

    Direct Hire | Brooklyn Park, MN | $45–$48/hour

     

    We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Support Specialist to join a global support team supporting advanced industrial manufacturing equipment used by customers around the world. This role is ideal for a technically strong professional who enjoys troubleshooting complex electro-mechanical systems, supporting customers, and solving problems in real time.

    In this position, you will serve as a primary technical resource for customers and internal teams, providing remote troubleshooting, technical guidance, and occasional on-site service. You’ll collaborate closely with engineering, field service technicians, production teams, and spare parts specialists to ensure customers receive fast, effective solutions and exceptional service.

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide technical support to customers and internal teams via phone, email, and remote connection tools.
    • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and automation issues on industrial equipment.
    • Identify replacement parts, provide repair instructions, and coordinate solutions with engineering and field service teams.
    • Document support requests and resolutions within the service management system.
    • Develop troubleshooting guides, service procedures, and recommended spare parts lists.
    • Perform quality checks and manufacturing test protocols on newly built machines.
    • Travel to customer sites as needed to troubleshoot equipment, perform maintenance, and support installations. Approximately 25% travel.

     

    Qualifications:

    • 10+ years of experience in technical service, field service, or manufacturing support roles.
    • Strong electro-mechanical troubleshooting skills involving industrial equipment, automation systems, or machinery.
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
    • Experience working with PLC-controlled machinery, industrial automation, or CNC-based systems preferred.
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to support customers and collaborate across technical teams.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Excel, Word) and service documentation systems.
    • Technical degree in robotics, automation, machinery, electronics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
