    INTECON, LLC is seeking a detail-focused Technical Writer I to support the planning, development, and revision of technical documentation associated with U.S. Navy Submarine Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) systems. This position supports NSWCPD Code 24 in ensuring technical accuracy, compliance, and clarity across engineering and maintenance deliverables.

    Roles and Responsibilities :

    The roles shall include:

    • Draft, edit, and format technical manuals, standard operating procedures, and engineering documentation related to submarine HM&E systems.
    • Conduct information research from engineering reports, drawings, maintenance records, and system specifications to create accurate and user-friendly documents.
    • Interpret technical data from multiple sources to prepare installation instructions, system descriptions, test procedures, and maintenance guidance.
    • Support the update and revision of documentation in response to engineering change proposals (ECPs), Departures from Specification (DFS), and technical assessments.
    • Collaborate with engineers, logisticians, and program staff to validate technical content and ensure adherence to NAVSEA formatting standards.
    • Prepare documentation deliverables in accordance with CDRL requirements and Navy data submission protocols.
    • Maintain accurate records of versions and revisions in accordance with Navy configuration management procedures.

    Qualifications :

    Education :

    High school diploma or GED equivalent.

    Experience :

    • Minimum of 2 years of experience in preparing and editing technical documentation related to defense or engineering systems.
    • Minimum of 1 year of experience specifically supporting documentation for U.S. Navy Submarine HM&E systems and equipment.
    • Demonstrated ability to conduct detailed research and translate technical information into clear, structured written deliverables.
    • Experience working within a government or contractor team in support of DoD documentation requirements.

    Preferred Certifications and Training :

    • NAVSEA Style Guide or MIL-STD-38784 Familiarization
    • Technical Writing for DoD and Navy Systems (e.g., DAU or NAVAIR training)
    • Documentation Control and Records Management Certification (preferred)
    • Configuration Management Process Training (preferred)

    Proficiency in:

    • Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat
    • Navy formatting standards for technical deliverables
    • Document version control, editing, and annotation tools
    • Use of technical references, schematics, and engineering documents

    Security Clearance :

    Must possess and maintain a SECRET clearance.
