A Technical Writer collects, extracts, organizes and assembles information and prepares drafts of test plans, procedures, and reports, and other assigned documentation tasks for engineering review.
Responsibilities:
- Performs any research necessary to complete assigned documentation tasks.
- Coordinate documentation with task managers and engineers as necessary.
- Check for strict compliance with MIL-Spec requirements.
- Oversee all phases of the production of the assigned document, including formatting, images, graphs, typing and reproduction, and may be required to provide rough illustrations with a high attention to detail.
- Estimate man hour requirements to accomplish assigned tasks.
- May be required to direct lower-level Technical Writers in the performance of their work assignments.
- Support internal in-process quality reviews, final reviews, and in-process reviews of written documentation
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical or electrical engineering or technology preferred.
- 1 to 3 years of technical writing experience.Must possess technical and administrative writing skills.
- Ability to analyze engineering/technical data and draw conclusions.
- Ability to interact effectively and efficiently with peers, customers, and management, both internal and external to the organization.
- Must understand SDRL submittal and data management process
- Must be proficient in MS software including MS Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or English, or other related discipline.
