Position Summary
The Technical Writer will develop, edit, and ensure the quality of technical documents, reports, policies, and operational materials that support SPIN Global's projects across multiple domains. This role requires attention to detail, mastery of plain language, and the ability to apply Section 508 accessibility standards to ensure inclusive communication.
Location
- Washington, D.C. preferred.
- Remote, with potential for travel as required.
**Duties & Responsibilities **
- Write, edit, and format a wide range of technical documents, including operational plans, needs assessments, reports, white papers, and policy documents.
- Ensure consistency, accuracy, and clarity in all written products while adhering to organizational standards, style guides, and templates.
- Review content for grammar, punctuation, tone, and structure while maintaining technical precision.
- Apply Section 508 compliance standards to ensure accessibility of all deliverables.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts, program managers, and stakeholders to gather technical information and translate it into clear, user-friendly documentation.
- Support the development of presentation materials, web content, and other client-facing products.
- Coordinate reviews and incorporate feedback efficiently to meet deadlines.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Technical Writing, Information Technology, or related field.
- At least 3+ years of experience in technical writing or editing.
- Demonstrated expertise in Section 508 compliance and accessibility standards.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex information clearly.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite; familiarity with document management and publishing tools.
- U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing policies, plans, or procedures for the government, nonprofit, or large organizations.
- Familiarity with emergency management, homeland security, or related fields.
- Experience with desktop publishing, multimedia production, or online documentation platforms.
- Industry certifications such as Certified Professional Technical Communicator (CPTC) or equivalent.

- Exceptional writing skills: ability to write clearly, concisely, and strong command of grammar, punctuation, and style. Versatility in writing for different formats and audiences.
- Editing and Proofreading: keen eye for detail and accuracy, proficiency in editing for grammar, style, tone, and consistency, and ability to provide constructive feedback to other writers.
