    THE ENGINEERING TECH- SALES role for the Quick Wire & Tube (QWT) business comprises of owning the entire process (outside of Operations) from quoting to shipment of product and customer relations. This position integrates many facets of various roles within Tegra Medical for this segment of the business -- including Customer Service, portions of Application Engineering and Supply Chain, and at times Quality. Quotes are developed by reviewing customer prints for requested capabilities, quantities along with any required sourcing of materials and vendor services. There is a strong alignment and working relationship with Operations and Shipping Team to determine the viability of making the product along with gaining cycle times, lead times and any special packaging or instructions. Technical Sales will be responsible for entering orders, provide routing instructions to document control and then planning for material purchase and scheduling. Sales Engineering Tech will follow-up on status of orders to provide customer updates and also facilitates resolution for any customer returns, complaints, and helps solve internal non-conforming issues.

    ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Receive and review Requests for Quotes, including customer drawings, specifications and inspection plans to determine product manufacturability with the QWT business
    • Generate quote by sourcing materials or vendor services as required and using established machine cycle times and manufacturing process history with each step
    • Determine lead times by working with Operations and Supply Chain
    • Determine and state all exceptions on quotes
    • Enter new customer orders, generate (router/work instructions)
    • Contact customer with problems / questions that occur during manufacturing and negotiate possible solutions
    • Manage orders, make order changes, meet with operations/scheduling regarding job issues, communicate with Accounting regarding credit issues, inform customers of late jobs, handle customer expedites/de-expedites requests, initiate customer complaints/RMA#’s, send daily notifications to customers with shipping information and follow orders to ensure on-time delivery
    • Generate orders resulting from eCommerce Quick Wire and Tube Store as needed
    • Work with Business Development Managers in resolving customer issues if applicable
    • Assist Customer Care Team for coverage, call center inquiries, order entry and job launch processes as required
    • Additional duties and responsibilities as required which could be customer related or project based

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

    A minimum of five (5) years related experience quoting technical specifications and a Engineering degree with one year’s experience reviewing technical specifications is required. Experience may be the result of previous technical and manufacturing positions, Quality Assurance or Engineering background, Expertise and knowledge of materials, wire and tubing, precision grinding, cutting, and end-rounding is desired. Ability to read blue prints, drawings, and specifications is a must. Very strong oral and written communication skills are required. Experience with computer based ERP/manufacturing systems and working knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing programs is essential.
