    TekPro is representing a specialized engineering firm that is seeking an Entry Level Civil Engineer to join our Chicago Transportation Team. This position will provide the opportunity to work on engaging transportation infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate has strong written and oral communication skills, a positive team-oriented attitude, and a desire to grow personally & professionally.     This is an entry level position, although 1-2 years of experience is a plus. Prior experience on any State, Federal, or Local agency projects is desired. This position will require a technical background in at least one of the following areas: highway design, traffic engineering, roadway drainage & hydrology, and structural bridge engineering. Familiarity with AASHTO, MUTCD, and Highway Capacity Manual is highly recommended.

    Tasks

    • Perform engineering design tasks for roadway and transportation projects from preliminary to final design
    • Develop final design plans, including highway geometrics, cross sections, maintenance of traffic, erosion control, drainage, pavement marking and signing plans
    • Assist in specifications, cost estimates, and the preparation of final PS&E packages
    • Assist in design activities and meetings between staff, subcontractors, and client
    • Achieve client expectations for quality, schedule, and budget

    Qualifications + Skills

    • BSCE Degree (or higher from) an ABET accredited institution with emphasis in roadway design
    • EIT Certification is a plus
    • Knowledge of and experience using CADD/Design Software (MicroStation, GEOPAK) is required
    • Excellent technical communication skills
    • Ability to work independently
    • Willingness to learn and invest in professional development
