LEGAL ASSISTANT (MEDICAL MALPRACTICE)
Job Description
Our locally established and growing defense law firm has an immediate opening for an experienced Legal Assistant. Must be experienced in all aspects of trial work and preparation and possess expert clerical skills. Our firm’s focus is Medical Malpractice, Health Law, Nursing Home, Professional Malpractice, Local Government and Personal Injury.
Experience is required as follows:
· Minimum 4 years prior experience working as a Legal Assistant supporting a busy attorney with large case load in a multi attorney law firm
· Scheduling of depositions and court reporters as needed
· Experience with E-Filing software and procedures
· Familiarity and compliance with judicial orders
· Ability, experience and organizational skills necessary to juggle multiple cases in a fast paced environment
· Diarying, scheduling, and follow up as it relates to discovery matters, depositions, notices, e-filings, and other pretrial compliance issues
· Proficiency in all MS Office products such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint
· Aderant Total Office (ATO) case management software is strongly desired
· Good interpersonal skills and ability to function within a team; ability to get along well with coworkers is a MUST!
The successful candidate will be able to work 8:30am – 5:00pm and additional hours as needed. Personal skills necessary: 1) be a highly organized and detail oriented multi-tasker 2) willing to assist in other areas and work outside normal business hours as needed 3) work well at times of stress and changing deadlines 4) possess the ability to work with all levels of staff, management, opposing counsel and expert witnesses 5) possess an excellent work ethic and be dependable.
