About the Role:

We are seeking experienced, Kansas-based Virtual Medical Assistants (VMAs) to conduct remote Health Status Assessments (HSAs) for members of our Kansas health plan partners, including KanCare populations. The VMA plays a crucial role in identifying care gaps, supporting chronic condition management, and improving overall member health outcomes. The VMA role is focused on data gathering, documentation, and coordination of care, ensuring compliance with Kansas-specific Medicaid requirements and health plan documentation standards.

What you'll do:

• Engage Kansas members via phone or video, follow approved scripts, and document accurate health histories.
• Verify demographics, review meds, document conditions, assess functional status, and capture SDoH per KanCare standards.
• Flag overdue screenings and escalate urgent concerns to Kansas-licensed clinicians.
• Enter data in real time into EMR/HSA platform, ensuring HIPAA, CMS, and KanCare compliance.
• Work with care coordinators and NPs to close gaps and meet HEDIS/STARs goals.
• Complete required training and maintain accuracy/timeliness through QA audits.

Must-haves:

• Kansas residency
• Formal Medical Assistant training or 2–3 years healthcare work experience (medical scribe, CNA, care coordinator or similar)
• Comfortable with EMR/EHR and telehealth tools
• Reliable internet + private professional workspace

• Kansas business hours (CST/CDT)
• Some evening/weekend flexibility
• 100% remote (Must live in Kansas)
• No travel
