The Skirball Cultural Center seeks an enthusiastic team player to serve as on-call Temporary Registrar. Reporting directly to the Head Registrar, this limited-term, on-call position is responsible for assisting with installation and the de-installation of the museum's robust schedule of rotating exhibitions. This position works closely with other members of the museum department to include: registrars, curators, preparators, administrative staff, and exhibition coordinators.
This is an on-site position running through October 23.
Salary Range: $45/Hour
Essential Duties
- Creates digital condition reports of incoming loans.
- Tracks mounting and framing needs of loans to facilitate Preparators in readying loans for display.
- Assists with exhibition installation.
- Object handling with regard to installing, deinstalling, packing, shipping, and storage.
Qualifications, Experience, and Attributes
- Bachelor's degree, with coursework in Museum Studies, History, Art History, Archaeology or closely related field is preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop collaborative relationships across the institution.
- Demonstrated skills in condition reporting, artifact handling, and knowledge of museum best practices.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.Excellent IT tool proficiency, demonstrated ability to utilize Office 365 applications and PDF Expert.
