    Our client in San Marcos is seeking a temporary Staff Accountant who will be assisting during a maternity leave. This individual will provide a range of services, including performing complex bookkeeping, accounting, and clerical tasks. They will apply standard accounting procedures to maintain accurate records and prepare financial, statistical, and management reports. The person in this role will report to the Accounting Manager.

    • Pay Range: $32-40/hr depending on experience
    • Must be reliable and flexible to work until mid-late May 2025
    • Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday (100% onsite) 8am - 5pm with overtime as needed.

    Job Summary
    The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining general ledgers, preparing financial reports, and conducting budget analysis. Key duties include performing complex bookkeeping tasks, preparing reports, and supporting departmental projects in a fast-paced, quiet environment.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    • Meet key accounting deadlines, including a 3-day close at the start of each month. Overtime required to meet deadlines.
    • Print daily cash deposits and review daily gross margin results.
    • Process daily credit memos, labor hours, journal entries, and inventory adjustments.
    • Cross-train to maintain fixed asset files and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
    • Prepare monthly billing for non-A/R sales and review JD Edwards system for integrity.
    • Assist with purchase price variances, inventory reserves, and standard price updates.
    • Prepare monthly reconciliations, commissions, work order analyses, and bank reports.
    • Participate in audits, budget development, and annual transfer pricing analysis.
    • Lead and manage projects with deadlines, using tools like PowerPoint for presentations.
    • Multi-task and prioritize efficiently, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
    • Maintain clear communication with managers, reporting progress and challenges.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
    • 3+ years accounting experience with knowledge of GAAP.
    • Advanced spreadsheet skills (formulas, pivot tables) - must be OK with taking and Excel assessment.
    • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
    • Self-starter, able to work independently and under pressure.

    Special Requirements

    • Occasional fixed asset walk-throughs with safety shoes.
    • This position works in an office and manufacturing environment, using standard office equipment.
