The Role
Mission: Lead production on new podcasts Ten Percent Happier -- from show pitching and talent scouting to producing, writing and editing. Serve as the day to day manager of all shows in production, as well as key partner and thought leader on the podcast team. This position reports to the Executive Producer for Podcasts.
Ensure the creative and operational excellence of the Ten Percent Happier podcast production pipeline, as well as the successful launch and first seasons of all new shows.
Responsibilities
- Pitch and shape concepts for new shows
- Scout and evaluate talent (hosts, producers, editors)
- Oversee the daily production needs of shows in development (studio, edits, scoring etc.)
- Participate in the selection of guests and topics, show research, host prep and scripting.
- Coach and support hosts and producers in the development process
- Assemble and help lead production teams for new shows
- Cut tape and assemble mixes
- Write and edit scripts
- Help shape episode concepts and provide ongoing editorial input.
- Upload episodes to podcast platforms with appropriate tags.
- Help develop the production process and systems for quality and efficiency.
- Support the creation of digital assets for the website, marketing and promotion, social media and future episodes.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for the podcast development pipeline and planning with the other parts of the company, providing seamless and responsive communication.
Experience
- 3-5 years experience as a podcast or radio producer, preferably including a range of formats and approaches, including interview, scripted and documentary.
- 3-5 years experience in audio production and editing experience, preferably in podcasting.
- Experience leading the creation of successful new shows, from concept to pilot to launch.
- Experience assembling and supervising podcast production staff.
- Experience in high concept, complex production, including field producing, long form story structure, and extensive use of tape and music.
- Ability to set / meet deadlines and work collaboratively
- Strong audio writing skills with the ability construct stories, inject humor and translate complex topics into compelling prose.
- Proven editorial judgment and an ear for good sound
- Strong organization and communication skills
- Significant experience with mindfulness and wisdom practices, such as meditation.
Organizational Structure
This role will report directly to Jen Poyant (Executive Producer) and will work closely with the podcast production coordinator. This person will also coordinate with marketing, in-app content, and other departments at the company.
